     The noise that left Hitoshi’s mouth was something akin to an acknowledging hum, but the taller teen was far too smart to draw any blunt attention towards the fact that the other was smiling softly like someone had just punched him with feelings. Besides, who was he to talk when he himself couldn’t quite help the little smiles Midoriya dragged onto his face from time to time? No, let the guy enjoy his moment; it was certainly quieter than the alternative. 

     “I suppose so. He seems like the kinda guy. Which is why you should totally hang around, y’know? Just….. suck it up. For him. Trust me, he’ll appreciate it, and you’ll be one step closer to….. not pining over him from afar.” 

--- His trademark unimpressed scowl returned to his features only seconds after Shinsou spoke again. “’m not pinin’.” He claimed, agitated by the assumption. “We’re just gonna be friends..” Mostly because he did not see a universe in which he, Bakugou Katsuki, would actually admit out loud his feelings for the redhead, especially because there was a chance of being rejected, and pretty much losing the only real friend he had. Though perhaps that was a bit unfair to the entirety of class 1-A considering they did their annoying best to befriend him...

   He shrugged once again. Pretending to be blasé about things that mattered to him had worked out for him so far. “Guess I could stay ‘round for halloween,” His lips pulled up into a smug grin then “--If only t’see your dumbass costume.”

  “Wha, really?  I mean, I’m not big on jump scare kinda things myself, but the more I’ve developed my Quirk the less things like that have started to bother me!”  He grinned.  It was hard to imagine that Bakugou, of all people, would consider this holiday too exciting.  He already scared small children.  Brows knit in thought, Eijirou regarded his friend.

   “Maybe we can find somethin’ you’ll like!  Wanna at least come with me to get some pumpkins and props?  Oh, and snacks!”

--- He shrugged. “It ain’t exactly the halloween stuff. ‘S not like I get scared.” He turned just a little defensive. He wasn’t a coward. “It’s just the people get all weird and hyped up on sugar.” He’s not that good with people to begin with, and he gets agitated easily with their actions. All the more when they get all annoying during holidays. It’s just not his scene.

   That was just like Kirishima, trying to be all inclusive of him. “Well, alright.. I’ll help ya out getting ready and stuff.” Even if Kirishima asked him to stay for the party their class was no doubt gonna throw, then he wouldn’t even think for a moment to turn him down, even though he’d of course act like it was a huge favour.

“Yeah so we gotta get pumpkins, I went and bought like three bag-fulls of tiny ones last year and passed them around…”  He paused.  “Oh man, I haven’t even thought about it yet!  Shoot, and it’s getting so close.  I wonder if there’s still any good stuff left at the stores!”

   “And I was totally studying! Nothing else could make me practically forget Halloween!  Hey, we should do somethin’ together!  Do you have a costume yet?”

--- Maybe he really had been studying... Otherwise Kirishima certainly would already have decked out their common room, and most certainly his own room. Plus he’d already be excitedly telling the entire class about his costume...

   As for his own plans. “Err.. No... I was actually planning on going home on halloween. ‘S not really my kinda thing, all that excitement.”

  “I got so caught up in studyin’ I didn’t even realize how close it was already!  We gotta start getting ready! Pumpkins, candy corns, COSTUMES!

--- “...Right..” None of these things sounded very exciting to him. Except for pumpkin, that was kinda good when it was roasted.. But Kirishima seemed very excited about them, and that was kind of endearing in a way. 

   “Kinda questioning the studying thing, but.. That aside, what were you gonna dress up as?”

     “Less lazy than going home for Halloween.” Came the quipped retort from the taller of the two, spoken with all the air of someone who trusted ( maybe a little naively ) that he wasn’t going to get another fist to the face for speaking so brazenly to the guy with the infamously explosive temper. 

     “Seems kinda dumb if you ask me. You like Kirishima, don’t you? So, like….. why don’t you dress up with him? Y’know, if it’ll like…. make him happy, then why not? Midoriya’s real excited, and I bet Kirishima will be even happier if you stuck around.” 

     Plus, he added privately, he kind of really did want to see what costume the excitable redhead would manage to force his best friend into. 

--- He scowled at the other teen, but didn’t otherwise comment. However much he hated it, Shinsou was right. Going home was not only lazy, but also cowardly. It was just that Katsuki really didn’t do well in the kind of scene Halloween parties created. People in their costumes, pulling pranks, those damn hyperactive moods everyone seemed to get in from sugar-rush...

   He gave a one-shouldered shrug. Shinsou had a point - again -, but he wouldn’t soon admit that he would agree to Kirishima’s dumb ideas without another thought, even if it wouldn’t be without the necessary grumbling and complaining. “Guess so..” He answered. If he asked Kirishima about doing something for halloween he’d probably explode with excitement. 

   “....He does get real excited about dumb stuff...” If he’d noticed the goofy smile that pulled at his lips, he would have wiped it off his face. But as it was, he was imagining the goofy smile on Kirishima’s face.

     For a moment Bakugou had looked as though he were about to double over, and for a moment Hitoshi considered grabbing the back of his collar and yanking downwards to pitch the jerk’s face into the ground. As it was, neither event came to pass, considering the blond was apparently trying not to look as mirthful as he evidently felt, and so the taller teen simply settled for setting his features into an irritated scowl instead. 

     “Shut up. It’s not lame. I’m gonna shove some cat ears onto my head and he’s gonna shove some dog ears onto his and i’ll officially be dressed up enough that people won’t be able to complain about my lack of ‘festive spirit’. You’re taking the quitter’s way out.” 

--- “That’s cause Deku has the good grace ta keep your preferences in mind and actually shows some restraint. If you think for a minute Kirishima isn’t gonna just think up the craziest thing his dumbass, excitable mind can think of you’re wrong.” He huffed. “It’s embarrassing.” What was even more embarrassing was that were he to actually stay at UA that night, he’d actually let himself be talked into whatever Kirishima’d come up with. Simply because it would make the redhead happy. And if that wasn’t sappy and emasculating as hell he didn’t know what was. 

   He crossed his arms over his chest, focusing his attention back on the other teen’s Halloween prospects. “So a cat and a dog, huh.. Guess that’s kinda fitting. He does have that kicked puppy look down pat, and you’re a ringer for an uninterested feline.. Still.. Kinda lazy, isn’t it?”

"Midoriya's talked me into a couples costume." He wasn't entirely sure WHY he was telling the other this, but he supposed the blond would see it eventually, and honestly, he didn't really have any other conversation-worthy events happening in his life right now that Bakugou didn't already know of.

The unbridled guffaw that left him upon hearing the news almost bent him at the waist, but he laid his palm against his chest and looked up to give the other teen a somewhat sympathetic look instead of further laughing at him. That was nice of him, yeah? The other better appreciate his restraint.

"Yeah? What kinda lame thing does he want you two to be?" That was such a lovey-dovey thing... Would kirishima be into that? ------ Who was he kidding? Of course he'd be into that. Oh god, there was something hanging above his head wasn't there..?

He regained composure, coughing lightly. "Maybe I'll just go home on Halloween."
