I have recruited a friend who is an industrial designer to work with me on creating a brand new, completely designed-in-house electrolysis device optimized for low cost, simplicity of use, and ease of manufacturing. we have some pretty ambitious ideas for the project and I'm REALLY excited to start moving on this.

the new device is gonna be designed from the ground up to cut out as much of the complexity and part count from the machine as possible, as well as some other pretty crazy features that we think could really change the whole game as far as diy hair removal goes. our heads are really buzzing about this so stay tuned as r&d proceeds on that front. :)

hi everyone - another update to my electrology saga.

thanks to some really truly angelic donations I'm pleased to announce that I now fully intend to pursue this project further with the intention of developing a revision of the device which can be mass-produced with the aim of being able to sell kits to girls all around the world!

obviously there are gonna be some kinks to work out, and a lot of bumps in the road, but I think this has a lot of potential to help a lot of people.

I'm still focusing my energy into finishing the rev1 test program right now but expect announcements about rev2 (hopefully) very soon!

okay I'm posting properly about my electrolysis project cuz I'm actually starting to wrap up the planning stage and I have nowhere else to go but forward, so:

hi everyone. I'm nixie. lately I've been working on a pretty big project that is pretty small in scope for now but could expand later: I'm trying to build small affordable electrolysis machines to make transition care more accessible for my local community and perhaps down the line my not-so-local community as well. these machines are themselves cheaper than a single session of professional hair removal, meaning each one could potentially grant multiple people the complete freedom to pursue hair removal on their own terms, without shelling out thousands to the beauty-industrial complex, saving a huge amount of money and making hair removal accessible to folks who couldn't otherwise afford it.

right now I'm working towards an initial test run of 5 units to give everything a test run, work out all the kinks, etc. after that, who knows. for now I'm keeping it small until I can guarantee a smooth process from components to finished machine.

now, in order to make this happen, I need to put together some cash. to be exact, 5 machines (the smallest number I can realistically make at a time due to supplier MOQs) will cost ~$474 CAD / $337 USD in tooling, components, and other supplies. I will personally be putting in around $150 CAD to cover the tools and such I'll need for the assembly process as well as my own unit for testing. this leaves roughly $324 CAD I need to raise either from ppl who want to purchase units or otherwise.

updating this post with some developments that have developed:

1. thanks to the pawesome generosity of some really cool girls from here, the initial test program has been completely funded! this test program will involve building 5 units as a trial run of the assembly process, as well as assessing any design changes that may be needed for future runs.

2. the first batch of components for the test program has been ordered and should be arriving Wednesdayish, so there should be some more updates then.

3. I'm currently looking into whether it will be possible for me to ship the machines internationally, which would massively increase the potential reach of the project.
