This was one of my most favorite spots I've ever been to. The past 5 days were slow paced and peaceful. My first night in Ubud I hung out with one of the extras from the movie. She lives in Seminyak but is from the UK and she was in Ubud at the same time as me. She's also a teacher. She has a story similar to many of the expats I met...went to Bali for vacation...went home..saved money and then moved to Bali. I met expats from all over the world..Australia, Russia, Canada, US, England etc. I understand there's no place like home but there's no place like Bali either. My days in Ubud were pretty routine. I would get up, eat breakfast on my balcony, walk around the town, do yoga and just hang out. I met new people everyday and really enjoyed getting to hear their stories. On the second day I went to the Monkey Forest which was down the street from my hotel. It's a big forest/jungle that has a bunch of paths and tons of monkeys. There were monkeys EVERYWHERE. It was a bit scary because if there was food in a bag or in someone's hand they would just jump on them and take it. A little monkey jumped on me but I didn't have any food..I think it just liked me :) The cutest were the tiny babies. They were attached to their moms the whole time. It was really cool just to watch them. A couple days ago I went and visited the Green School. The Green School is an international school that emphasizes their curriculum on sustainability and being "green". The students raise animals, grow rice and vegetables, and help build school structures as part of their curriculum. They also help to develop more efficient and sustainable practices for the villages around Bali. The students and the teachers are from all over the world. The last day in Ubud was hard. I was sad to leave Ubud and sad to that my trip is coming to an end. One my way to the airport I was given an Indonesian language lesson and I managed to thank my taxi driver in Indonesian and then forgot all of it. I technically have one more day of my trip...even if its just airports and flying...I still have one more post. I can't believe I'm going home. I think this was the fastest 6 weeks ever.
