This week,we went through the process of design thinking with St.Elizabeth Academy in a more detailed perspective.Thinking has never been hard and fun at the same time.It was fun hanging out with the girls.We got a chance to present our project to them and they really were excited.All thanks to Innovate Kenya
Yet another fun and awesome experience with Innovate Kenya,Global Minimum Inc.We went to Boston,Cambridge to MIT where we were attending the Eureka Fest under the Lemelson-MIT programme.We presented our project.We got to learn alot from 3D printing to being taught how to make a thin film solar cell which was one of our goals and we achieved it.Right now we are working on installing our project on a house.Thanks to Global Minimum,David Sengeh,Carol Dahl,Richy Bikko,Rupak Chakrabort,Lindsey Wang and so many others
Thursday 30/04/2015..Last day with Innovate Kenya.It has been one awesome journey,making the prototypes,presenting them.My team members and I got to develop skills like resilience since we went through a lot of ups and downs which we weren't sure we could come out of but we made it with the help of our mentors,our awesome innovate Kenya guys.We've had fun making our prototype which entailed infusing solar panels onto iron sheet
Yesterday was the last day with the Innovate Kenya,the presentations were awesome.My team members and I got a chance to showcase our prototype and we were really happy with the people's response on it.Working on our prototype which entails infusing a solar panel onto an iron sheet has been a challenging experience and yet the most educative part.This is where we developed resilience as a team.It has been an awesome journey with all the other team mates,the Innovate Kenya guys,the Cemastea guys even the cooks ,our wonderfull mentors.We've learnt,we've had fun and we've made it through.
Week 2,team innovate...This has been one of the hectic weeks,buying the materials and all that.The hardest part has been making the prototype.It has been one of the toughest experience,it has literally opened my mind to think outside the box.Working with our mentors has also been fun.They have both encouraged us and adviced us.All in all I would say it has been a really busy week for everyone with everyone working on their prototype
So excited for tomorrow's session in the innovate Kenya programme!!😁
Day six ,innovate Kenya.
We got to meet our mentors.It was really a great experience to meet such experienced people in their fields of work.Our mentor who happened to be an engineer was really inspiring,a person who is passionate about his work,confident,a trait he told us we should always have.We also had another mentor who was willing to give us advice through skyping ,showing that these people were really committed .They taught many character traits to instill as we go on with our project.Our mentors gave us a lot of advice concerning our project,factors to consider and also the fact that we should always be at the know.We should also be resilient.It was a really fun experience ,to talk to such people and I would want to meet more.

These experiences keep getting fun and fun.Day five....innovate Kenya .
We went to one of the art places,the Kuona Trust art gallery,which has been one of my best experience so far.I got to see alot of art ,i mean a sculpture completely made of metal.I,been someone who loves grafitti,honestly,i got inspired. We had print artists,sculpters,wood workers,chalk artists.I have never been to an art gallery so i found this experience very enjoyable.I got a channce to see one of the artists whose work has made major publicity in the country,the great talent behind the Syokimau sculpture,Kevin,and many other sculptures around the country.Whats more interesting the man has only one hand but a great talent.There were so many painters,great pieces and really inspired persons.
Still going strong.....team innovate.
We learnt about the design programm,which all about knowing your project ,putting yourself into the shoes of the person who the problem you are trying to deal is going through by making a journey map.Through the journey we got to know what probably our project may be missing.We did a little fun exercise based on listening skill,our ability to actually communicate with each other which was such an eye opening experience.Basically today was all about knowing your project and also considering other experiences with other people.

Team Innovate Kenya...fabulous people.great meals.....Had an awesome time.
We discussed on dealing with problems which was actually a mind opening discussion.We had a small fieldtrip to one of the places in Nairobi,which was based on an organisation The Kikwetu organisation.An awesome people,with quite a motivating spirit.The organisation deals with farming,growing of crops and also nurturing youth talents that is through sports.The organisation recruits people to play football,not only boys but also girls.The people may have faced challenges but they are still thriving,heading for greater things to come.
Lesson learnt was always to be patient,determined and committed.
