#RealTALK Finally found the perfect reason to take a picture here!! After 2 years being in Switzerland. Who would’ve thought?! Transitioning from my 15-years in the beauty industry in the Philippines to the NGO sector in Switzerland was certainly not a walk in the park. Moving to a new country 2 years ago I was realistic that finding a job in the same industry in PR, communications & marketing will be a far stretch. Honestly, maybe I overestimated myself or I simply just underestimated the employment situation here. Everybody was saying just calm down, it takes time, enjoy your new home, and just take a little break. But I am just not built that way. I am certainly a career woman. I used the time wisely to integrate myself here successfully in anyway I can. Being in a different country, where english is not the official language, starting a career in communications is definitely a REAL challenge. Duh. Then, adding to this struggle is the pandemic and my “unprogressive” learning of the french language. 😜😩(FYI: The first line I finally mastered to say, “Je ne parle pas francais, desole, tu parle anglais?) — Then, I get by. Give me another 5 years, I will learn more. Although it was quite a rollercoaster ride, last year, HE worked over time in my life in terms of work and I couldn’t be more blessed to be doing something I enjoy. From leaving the corporate world, leaving my home country, to becoming a mother, a wife, being in a new home and now working with an NGO to discovering hidden passions... It was the whole 360 change. In the past years I've read and watch so much, explored so much, learnt so much, experienced so much, and I surprise myself. It was exhausting, scary, and exciting at the same time. I guess that’s the real beauty of starting over again, windows and doors opening up for you and you just take on the challenge and just be surprise of what you, yourself can do. Enjoy the ride. Of course, it didn’t hurt at all to have a wonderful husband who 100% (or more) committed, supported & believed in me. Thank you @christophejacobson for cheering me on from day one. #confessionsofacrazyhardworkingfilipinamama #proudmoment #celebration #teamwork (at United Nations Office at Geneva) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPiE-7CH-JH/?utm_medium=tumblr
