Celebrating Young Scientists at the 6th NOSTER & Science Microbiome Prize
Kyoto, Japan — October 2025 — Noster Inc., in partnership with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and its journal Science, hosted the 6th NOSTER & Science Microbiome Prize Symposium and Awards Ceremony in Kyoto on October 9–10, 2025.
The Grand Prize was awarded to Djenet Bousbaine (Stanford University), with Ayele Argaw-Denboba (Max Planck Institute) and Mohammad Arifuzzaman (Weill Cornell Medicine) recognized as finalists. Their work represents groundbreaking advances in understanding the gut microbiome’s role in health and disease.
The Symposium featured the winners’ research presentations and a special postbiotics session with guest speakers Mark Brown (Cleveland Clinic), Craig Wheelock (Karolinska Institute), and Wataru Ogawa (Kobe University). The following evening, the Prize Ceremony at the historic Sodoh Higashiyama gathered researchers and guests from around the world to celebrate scientific progress and collaboration.
Applications for the 2026 Prize will be accepted from October 15, 2025, to February 14, 2026, open to early-career researchers within 10 years of earning an M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D.
