all the other foster siblings tried to be good to each other, despite their trauma. Luther did not. He felt he needed to be the unquestionable leader still. and made awful decisions. The only one who he cared for and listened to is the person he wanted to fuck. So yeah. My cold shoulder towards Luther is completely justified. If you donât agree thatâs fine. Untill season two changes my opinions, Iâm not here for him as much as i am for the other 6.
And even tho he really wanted to fuck Allison, the moment she disagreed with him, her opinion stopped mattering and he still did what he wanted to because heâs Number One. So yeah.
when everybody who died in tua looks exactly like they did before/while they died somebody tell me why ben doesnât? in the scene with klaus and all the people cha-cha and hazel killed we clearly see that they all look like how there were killed and dave does too so why did ben grew up and all?
I had thought Ben died when he was older. Maybe in his teens and thatâs why he looked grown up. I havenât read the comics so I donât know.
well in the show they said they split up soon after ben died when they were seventeen and he definitely doesnât look seventeen
Maybe itâs because heâs been with Klaus longer? The other ghosts were just ghosts he met that day, Ben has probably been with him since he died. Maybe itâs something Klaus is doing subconsciously?
thatâs a quite good theory yeah maybe thatâs whatâs happening
i usually chalk it up to him being a hargreeves/probably having different genetics than other people. therefore the rules donât apply to him. idk though.
my anti luther essay
you asked i finally answered
Luther Hargreeves is a Grade A Asshole. I consider Luther Hargreeves an asshole based off how he treats his siblings. In general, Luther is particularly disrespectful towards three of his siblings: Vanya, Klaus, and Allison. The way he treats others is probably partially based due to years of solitude, and therefore a lack of practice when it comes to social interaction, yet even in flashbacks, Luther does not appear to be very respectful. Due to all of these reasons, I strongly dislike him as a character.
Luther Hargreeves is constantly shown as not only disrespectful to Vanya, but cruel to the point where he physically harms her. In flashbacks, he is displayed as unkind and exclusive, but no less unkind towards her than the others are, at least based off what weâve been shown. However, throughout the first seasonâs timeline, he manages to easily surpass his siblings when it comes to cruelty towards Vanya. After Vanyaâs powers are explained to him, his first instinct is to lock her up, to treat her as he would a monster. He does not take her trauma into consideration, doesnât stop to think about the effects that not taking the emotion-numbing drug might have on her mind and her control over her powers. He doesnât stop to consider how little control she had over her powers before her memory was wiped of them, and therefore wiped of whatever control she had learned. He never once considers what sheâs been through throughout the past week- her father dying, reuniting with her siblings, Five returning, discovering her powers, being trapped in a manipulative and toxic relationship- and how that might affect her emotions. He doesnât think about what childhood trauma she might have revolving around the cage, despite it being safe to assume that Pogo and Allison mustâve explained the time she spent there. After she causes the apocalypse, when they are preparing to travel back into the past, he is more than willing to leave Vanya, his sister, behind. To leave her to die. Throughout the entire season he is disrespectful and dismissive of her, even before their relationship verges on abusive, which it does. He takes advantage of her at a vulnerable moment, and uses his powers to suffocate her until she passes out- I wouldnât be surprised if she thought he was going to kill her, because for a brief moment, thatâs what I believed myself.
As much as I wish I could say Vanya is the only Hargreeves sibling who receives horrible mistreatment from Luther, that would be false. Klaus Hargreeves is also treated quite cruelly by âSpaceboyâ. Luther consistently discredits Klausâs opinions and ideas, seemingly having decided that because heâs an addict, nothing he says is worth hearing out. Luther constantly invalidates Klaus for doing drugs, and then later on, mocks Klaus for attempting to get clean. This is especially disgusting because he knows enough about why Klaus began doing drugs that he ought to be much more empathetic. Also, when Klaus finds him in the episode titled, âThe Day That Was,â he asks Klaus for drugs, after an entire season of shaming and mocking Klaus for doing drugs. He also implies that drugs make Klaus âhappyâ and âcarefreeâ despite knowing, as previously mentioned, that Klausâs entire experience with drugs is stemmed from a childhood trauma. By asking Klaus for drugs, he is continuing to discredit Klausâs efforts towards sobriety, by implying that he believes Klaus has drugs on him, and is therefore no longer clean. When Klaus finds him at the club, he offers him ecstasy, despite being fully aware that Klaus is attempting to stay clean, and that tempting him with a pill like that is incredibly toxic and unfair to his brother. When Klaus dies, Luther takes no notice, instead choosing to preoccupy himself with a girl versus his dead brother. While this could be explained by him being under the influence, I still believe that he ought to have noticed his brother. The drug appeared to make him more reckless and carefree- not less aware of his surroundings. Yet Klausâs death had no affect on him.
While it is true that in many ways, Allison was the only character Luther treated with respect (which most likely has something to do with the fact that he wanted to sleep with her), there are in fact many times that he treated her with complete and utter disrespect. Every single suggestion she made he shot down, despite all of them making logical sense, and probably wouldâve worked much better than what he came up with. When she asked him to let Vanya out of the cage, to treat er like their sister instead of a monster that needed to be quarantined, he ignored her, opting to physically block her from trying to protect her sister. This resulted him Vanyaâs emotions getting out of control due to severe PTSD, and her destroying their childhood home, and killing both Pogo and Grace. At the violin recital, Allison asked to go see Vanya alone. Luther agreed- and than double-crossed her, bursting in just when it seemed like Allisonâs plan was starting to work. When he asked if everyone agreed of surrounding and attacking Vanya, he completely disregarded Allisonâs frantic disapproval. While at a first glance, it might appear that Luther holds respect for Allison, upon closer inspection it appears that he cares far more about how high her opinion of him is than he does her. One could explain his unwillingness to listen to othersâs opinions on the four years he spent on his own, having to listen to no oneâs opinion than his own, but his brother, Five, spent around forty five years alone in the apocalypse, and is still more respectful of othersâs opinions than Luther. Admittedly, he acts confident in his plans, but thatâs based off of years of research, whereas Lutherâs is merely based off a whim.
These are only three of the many characters that Luther is seen treated unkindly within just a mere ten episodes, but I feel that his treatment of these three characters widely captures the way he treats others- disrespectful to the point of immense cruelty unless he wants something from them. This evidence summarizes the majority of his characterization in the Netflix adaptation, and serves as an explanation as to why so many dislike his character as strongly as they do.

Why is Reginald so extra?
Mysterious babies? Adopt them all. They have powers? Train them to be superheroes cuz why not.
Sons dying? Make him a gorilla. Need a Butler? Just use a super intelligent monkey. Other sons scared of ghosts? Lock him in the mausoleum. Daughter loses control of powers once? Lock her up and then drug her for the rest of her life until she explodes and destroys the world.
Want a family reunion? Kills himself.
Reggie, listen, just because an idea comes into your head doesnât mean you need to do it. Donât be afraid to brainstorm. Get a committee on it.
okay guys, i get it, you want luther to get slapped.
the comments on this are either really anti luther or really pro five and honestly mood

Five is the first to notice the way Vanya looks at Ben. Her gaze is guilty, apologetic, heartbroken. Heâs not sure of the exact circumstances of the latterâs death, but he canât imagine that Vanya wouldâve had anything to do with it. Not while she was on the pills that numbed every emotion she might feel, good or bad. Not while she was still hidden away in the academy, convinced she was ordinary.
First, he turned to Klaus, who offered no help beyond a guilty shrug and a hasty, âI dunno, she destroyed the world, Iâd be acting a little weird too, wouldnât you?â
Five wouldnât be.Â
So he asks the others one by one, and they all respond with variations of the same answer, always delivered guiltily, none of them meeting his eyes.
So he asks Ben. Ben frowns, shrugging, lost in thought. Then, his eyes widen, and Five leans forward, frowning. âWhat? What is it?â
âWell- On my funeral, Klaus said- he was high, you know, he didnât mean it-â
âWhatâd he say?â
âHe said- he said she shouldâve died instead of me.â
âHe said what?â Fiveâs face darkens, and he drums his fingers against the arm of the chair, forcing himself to keep quiet, so that Reginald doesnât hear them, doesnât realize somethingâs amiss. Breathing heavily, he closes his eyes for half a second, before allowing himself to look back at Ben. âAnd the others? Did they say the same?â
Ben shrugs, frowning. âI donât know, Iâm- I was tied to Klaus.â
Five sighs. âRight, Iâll figure it out. Can you tell him and Vanya that weâre having a family meeting in my room tonight? Around midnight so weâre sure the old man is asleep.â
Ben nods, clapping Five on the back as he starts to leave. âSure thing. Youâre a good brother, Five, you know that?â
Five shrugs. âShe deserves better, thatâs all.â
Ben nods, grinning. âYeah, like I said. Good brother. Better than the rest of us, anyway.â
He leaves the room, and Five leans back, eyebrows furrowed together as he considers how best to go about this.
so apparently iâm a lot better at writing angst than fluff.
