Yuta’s Copy technique is like, matriarchal adjacent?? Borrowing from the wisdom and strength from others!!

I even want to reach BIG and say that ishigori, his life full of masculinity, was searching for a fight that wasn’t strong man vs strong man, but person vs person. Where yuta gave him a wonderful challenge of different world views or something like that.

Also, maki is feminism supreme. Something something visible scars that mar her “beauty”, (the early season 1 concept about women’s expected visual appeal to men) something something absolutely justified anger and hella awesome patricide.

Side note: id kinda love to see a version of ep 13 cut and without tengen’s narration. I’m of two minds about it where i both appreciate the information but want to also not be told a characters emotions as im watching it…lol

The scene of uro and yuta walking through the art hall with the paintings in the background literally reflecting their status in history uggghhhhh…uro’s side is paintings of (maybe) yokai and servitude and death and yuta’s beings of beauty and affluence!!!! When she stops and starts to figure things out, she stops in front of a picture of a yokai(maybe?) crawling on its knees and yuta literally stops in front of a REAL LIFE ADJACENT HISTORICAL PAINTING OF FUJIWARA NO TAKANOBU (or a painting that he drew, I’m not sure)

Granted, I’m not at all familiar with historical Japanese art pieces but…c’mon

God if I didn’t have an exam, I would write a whole essay about how jjk is so incredibly amazing. I’m anime only so I don’t know the full story yet but it’s just such a good reflection on Japanese society and conservatism and challenging the status quo.

Yuta’s episode really just cemented this for me. He’s such an opposition to what (specifically japanese but others too) society deems a “man” should be. He’s caring, nurturing, and accepts help from others. His greatest strength came from a bond with a little girl and he presents such a maternal kind of care??? He’s voiced by a female vc and therefore his voice is higher, yet he’s unaffected and speaks normally in universe. His introductory pose when meeting yuuji, naoya, and choso was very clearly meant to read as a feminine pose and it was brilliant.

With his fight, we see that strength isn’t flashy confidence or outbursts of anger, but analysis and calmness and care.

The way he quietly calculates his plans and doesn’t attack until he has ALL the information to make sure his fight is warranted bc he knows how strong he is and only uses this strength to protect and serve others who can’t save them selves and UGGGGHHHHHHHHH
