   Ruby eyes wandered down to her side where, clearly, on her white uniform was a red stain, and fresh. “This blood isn’t mine.”

The rabbit held up a ringed hand and waved it a little. “There’s no need to worry about me.” She said with a small smile. “I can protect myself just fine out here.” Lowering her hand back down, her ears twitched slightly. “But I do know what you mean.”

⚔    “...Or so you think.” Nobume did not believe this girl knew quite how much danger was out here in Edo. Not only that, but it was more than just kidnappings and killings, there were all sorts of terrible things that went on every day, especially since the Amanto arrived.

   “Follow me.” It wasn’t a request, but an order, as the female officer turned around and headed down the street.

“Mimawarigumi?” The rabbit asked tilting her head to the side in confusion. “Is that like the Shinsengumi?” At the question she rubbed the back of her neck a little. “Well I was just out taking a walk since it’s a nice night tonight. I like to see how this place looks at night in some parts.”

⚔    Well…she had that part right, sure enough…though the Shinsengumi were vastly different from the Mimawarigumi in terms of professionalism. 

   She was part of the ‘elite’ police force, so to speak.

   “At this time of night, it is dangerous to be walking around, you know…you could be cut down.” In her own way, Nobume was just looking out for the girl. “You should go home.”

Kamui whistled as he felt the preasure on his hand and his bones cracking. His expression did not change however the air around him became tense and filled with his bloodlust. “ Sure! If you say hello to the devil before me Samurai-san” 

The vermillion head twisted the arm in her hold not minding the fact that he was making his injury worse and gripped her wrist tightly.

 Now he only had to use force and she would fly away into the wall. “ Look , I just want those tasty donuts. “ or maybe…He moved the second he had that idea and using the grip on her arm Kamui propelled himself forward and headbutted her .

⚔    He’s an idiot, he’s surely some kind of fool, right? Nobume understood fully that he was a Yato, and as such, had immense power that even she would not be able to stand against...but for something like a pastry, it seemed a bit of a gamble.

   After all, she was no pushover...she had not forgotten her past and what she had done to get where she was.

   Blinking once, her pupils dilated once he, too, grabbed her wrist. The female had a vice-grip on his own at the moment...what she wasn’t expecting, was for him to butt heads with her. 

   The force made her reel backwards, though somehow she retained her grip on him; she had the idea that she should eat the donuts before he could get to them, but that would be a little difficult now. 

   A small line of blood tricked from her forehead now, but her fury was already in full force, so not even that could take her down.

“But it might be a good idea to get it cleaned off before you get stopped about that.” Turning back to face her, she lowered her ears. “Don’t know who might be watching.”

⚔    Well it was safe to say that this girl didn’t know who she was, nor who she was affiliated with, so now was a good time to explain a little better, supposedly. 

   The concern she was showing was genuine, but a complete waste. 

   “I am the Vice Commander of the Mimawarigumi, I’ll be just fine.” Nobume eyed the blue-haired girl vacantly for a moment before speaking up, “What are you doing out so late, anyway?”

Removing the few wooden boards that fell on his face he glanced at Nobume    “ No , I’m hungry” as if he didn’t just make things worse for him..or better in the way he looked at it. Plus he could smell those donuts on her somehwere..

The Yato only chuckled at her demand and glared at her slightly “ I don’t see your name on it  and from what I know it’s first come first serve” Now he was just pushing her buttons , maybe intentionally .

His hands quickly shot towards her coat where he smelt those delicious sweets and probably risked his hands getting broken, not that it would hurt him. Kamui smiled innocently as he finally found them in the coat pocket “ You should really learn the term sharing Samurai-san”

⚔    Now she was visibly seething, and quite frankly, Kamui had completely broken her shell of calm, she was no longer going to hide those raw emotions now. 

   She didn’t want to share a bed with him, and didn’t want him to sleep on the bed in general, he should be on the floor now, in her mind. It was as if he was trying to piss her off, and it was working, especially when he decided it was a fine idea to search her coat for his donuts. 

   His life was forfeit now.

   Grabbing his hand and squeezing hard enough to break bones, her eyes widened as the aura of the room quickly went sour, “You’ve just dug your own grave, moron...say hello to the devil for me.” 

   There she went...

“…Huh.” Standing there, the rabbit tried to think of that to do with that bit of information. “And why is it that you have blood on you?”

⚔   There was a short moment of silence as the officer thought of an appropriate thing to say to this seemingly innocent girl.

   “That would be private business.” Was what she came up with; after all, telling all the citizens why she had blood on her uniform was the last thing she wanted to do.

Huffing , Kamui crossed his arms and kicked the wooden bord a few more times “ We wouldn’t be having this little talk if you just gave me those donuts! I’m starving” as if on cue the redhead’s stomach growled loudly

“ Right back at you Samurai-san but once I’m done with you , you’ll be nothing but pretty red paint decorating the walls” What was wrong with this woman, not sharing her food when he was clearly deprived. He was the victim here so he kicked the bottom of the bed again but due to the fact he wasn’t holding back , the bed just kinda sank in and fell apart. Which was followed by the weight of a certain samurai 

⚔    If it weren’t for the fact that this Yato was being an incessant annoyance, maybe Nobume could get some sleep to be on her way tomorrow...no, it didn’t seem like it would be that easy, she never had such luck.

   “Interesting...if you would even dare to do such a thing, that is.” 

   She said that and not but a moment later, another kick to the bottom of the wood frame caused the bed to cave - and Nobume- to fall on top of the Yato. She tried, oh so hard not to show any signs of disdain, but her eye twitched ever so slightly...if one could see auras, hers was likely a cloud of red irritation. 

   “Are you an idiot or something?” She rarely used such direct insults, but this was different. “Get out from under me, I own this bed now, since you ruined mine.”

“oh don’t misuderstand miss Samurai. I’d fight you in a heartbeat but strong women make possible strong future opponents you see ” it was as if he was talking about something completely normal. He smiled a bit as she refused to share her donuts “How mean of you samurai-san ” kicks the wood under her bed making a little dent in it “die ”

⚔    ‘Disgusting...’ that was what she thought of that idea. She wasn’t the motherly type to begin with, and she most certainly wouldn’t let her kid fight this Yato if that ever came to happen. 

   Next thing she knew, the mattress was sagging a little in the middle from the kick meant for her; she ignored it. “Keep that up and you’ll have no choice but to fight me, future opponents or not.” Her eyes were shut as she lounged on the slightly caving bed, but internally she was most definitely not calm.

Kamui shruged and stretched his arms before wiping up the small trickle of blood on his neck “ I don’t think I’d regret it. Being able to fight someone strong is always a blast , though usually I don’t fight women” he admitted , his bloodlust gone completly as if it wasn’t there in the first place.

The pirate gave her and unimpressed glance “ But also a killer. You don’t have the same scent as that silverhead or that terrorist. You’re a beast of your own” He then plopped down on the bottom bed , he was  upset that he didn’t get the top bunk and being a stubborn mule he decided that he wasn’t through with being mean about it. He was definitelly going to kick the bottom of her bunk. His stomach suddenly made a loud sound before he could do so and Kamui groaned “I’m huungry , hey Samurai-san can I eat your donuts?” 

He was going to do it anyway despite her answer

   Nobume was more than pleased that she was able to leave that mark…and there would be more than that the more they interacted, undoubtedly. As her glassy eyes watched him speak, she felt more than a little perturbed, “…And why not? Strength is not limited to just men.”

   Of course she would not understand why he wouldn’t fight women, as he had seemingly attempted to fight her. Not only that, but in her experience and time in this world, women were often more stable than men. 

   Nevertheless, the subject changed once more, as she imagined it would with this type of person…but it wasn’t something she was willing to discuss. 

   “No.” Came the simple reply in her most sincere tone of voice, as she stuffed the stash of donuts she had further into her coat pocket: like hell he would get her donuts. Over her dead body.

The Yato felt the blade dig into his skin , and the laugh that he had surpressed before tumbled out from his lips. This was all so amusing..

“ What would be that reason?” Kamui pushed testing her patience, a glint flashing in his eyes at her threat “ Because I’m tempted to give you one if you need.” the response was playful , but his tone told that he was serious. Because with what Nobume said she only sparked further interest into the Yato for her-and that was never a good thing or is it

Kamui  looked to Nobume’s neck where his hand was still resting around the pale skin. His grip tightened for a second before he let go. “ It’s good to know that not only the samurai are interesting.” The Yato then proceeded to hop off the bed and Nobume gracefully and landed on the ground without a sound.

   It was a heated moment, ripe with the tense threats that were likely swimming around in both their heads, and the ones that had already been spilled. 

The Yato really was trying to get her to kill him, wasn’t he? Not that she would really mind, but it would undoubtedly be a pain in the ass to fight him off. She wasn’t in the mood...for the moment. When the time was right though, what she wouldn’t give to wipe that smug look from his face...no, his entire existence. 

“Just try me. You’ll regret it to your very last breath.”

Nobume was oh so very serious about that, too. When he went to seemingly attempt to actually strangle her, she almost plunged the blade she held right into his neck; were it not for the fact that he quickly hopped off, she would have done it. 

She sat up, narrowing her red eyes at him for those words, “I am a samurai.”
