In January 2020 if you told me exactly where my life would be today I would laugh my ass off and not believe it.

In the span of almost 2 years, I found out I was going to be an auntie, turned 24, went to Miami not knowing it would be my last trip for a long time, a pandemic happened, I was jobless for 5 months, the world stopped moving, I got my job back as the world resumed slowly, got another job, my first niece was born, got another job, worked 3 jobs, worked from home, learned how to snowboard, appreciated the little things more, turned 25, my sister got married, my sister got pregnant, spent the whole summer with my friends, bought my first apartment, moved into my first apartment, got a career in a field i never even thought I’d be eligible to work at, and now here I am today sitting on the couch I own in my own apartment with the news that my second niece was born today. 23 year old me in January 2020 really would’ve never seen this coming.

Valentine’s day is NOT a day for lovers, couples, or people in relationships. Valentine’s day is exclusively for elementary school students who each buy their entire class cute little cards with cartoon characters on them, messily scrawl their classmates names there as an act of love, and give them a tiny little candy packet.
