< The shadowguy seemed mad, she’d never seen him this angry before! NEVER. He approached aggressively, fists clenched and footsteps heavy. >

< He threw his hat off of himself, pointing a finger accusatorially. Meanwhile, Obsidian stomped his foot, seemingly in genuine distress. >

< Igneous immediately jolted at the sight of Obsidian and the loud slam of the door, previously having had her face smooshed into a pillow. Her eyes were sunken in, dark eyeliner smeared across her face. Clearly she’d been crying.. How pathetic! >

< Her laugh came with a crack in her voice. She was very obviously upset, masking it, of course. >

< His voice broke off at the last note, Obsidian placing his hands gently upon his own chest. The shadowguy had to bite his own tongue and look away to prevent himself from looking too pathetic.. Lord knows Igneous would just be an ass about that too, wouldn’t she? >
< Upon seeing the tears sprout from Obsidian, Igneous’s gaze softened ever-so-slightly slightly, turning into more of a look of concern than carelessness. >
< She hadn’t wanted to.. Hurt him… Yet, that was just another contradiction, wasn’t it? The pippins was trying to hurt him, to get him to hate her as she loved him.. >
< Deep down— No, not even deep.. Her feelings were there, right there.. She didn’t want him to hurt, Igneous just wanted to trust him. She. Just. Couldn’t. >
You— Y-you wouldn’t understand..

< Igneous crossed her arms on the couch, curling up and burying herself in her own mass of clothes. Just as Obsidian’s was, her voice was beginning to become painfully strained. Not from yelling, however. >
< She wanted to tell him, though. >
< Instead of returning gentleness, instead of calming down? Upon hearing that he “wouldn’t understand”, the shadowguy only got more frustrated. >
< Gritting his teeth, he uncrossed his arms, turning back to Igneous with a wild display of emotion. What wouldn’t SHE understand about this!? >
I won’t understand?! WHAT?? Am— Am I a-a CHILD to you??
< Obsidian offered his arms out forward to the pippins that was very much out of reach, displaying them in an act that was more of outrage rather than forgiveness. >
< Just as Igneous was about to speak again, Obsidian continued going on, the notes of his voice no longer a beautiful melody.
Then EXPLAIN IT to me! Say it! Tell me, tell me you aren’t— That you aren’t a god-damned coward and y-you have viable reason for all of this.
< Finally, as a real person, Igneous’ mask cracked. She clutched her crossed arms tighter, squinting her eyes for just a moment and gritting her teeth. Meanwhile, her tail stabbed itself into the couch. >
I-..! I-I AM A COWARD, OKAY!? I…. I-I know..
< The fiery pippins jolted from the couch just for a moment, tail following along in frenzied pursuit. After an awkward pause, she fell back down. >
< Damnit. Why. Why. >
< Obsidian entirely froze up, the room being nothing but stale air and tension now.. How.. How could she..? >
< As the shadowguy took an uneasy step forward, his curly hair falling in front on where eyes would be as his ears simultaneously went flat. >
< With a squeak from Igneous, Obsidian rushed forward, jumping onto her and pulling her to the ground. It was like a little kid fighting another little kid. Of course, he didn’t actually hurt her, just enough to hold her down and jostle her around a bit. >
WH-WHAT THE FU-??
< Igneous was cut off as she had to focus more on ensuring she didn’t slam her head into the ground rather than speaking. In a frantic display of limbs amuck and fighting, Igneous ended up on top. Of course she did, she was plenty stronger than the shadowguy in just about every stat. >
< By the time she pinned Obsidian down, they were both panting, tired from all the pathetic flailing around and meaningless shoves. The pair laid silent asides from their own breaths. >
< Obsidian, tired and hurt. >
< Igneous, yearning and just stupid. >
< Before the man beneath her had time to raise any objections, she roughly grabbed his chin, closing the gap between the two and kissing him. Yikes! That can’t be good.. Her breath was filled with pent up passion, one that Igneous was far too cowardly to ever admit to. >
< In this moment, Obsidian did not reciprocate. >
< OH HELL NO. >
< Obsidian harshly pushed the pippins off of himself, the two of them left panting and tired. >
< He didn’t get it. He couldn’t understand her. He had to admit in ANY other context the shadowguy would be absolutely thrilled! The woman he loved, kissing him! Oh, how romantic!! >
< Except this wasn’t any other context, this was now. So she DID like him? Then whyyy???? Why would she keep running? Why would she be so adamant that she hated him?? None of it made sense. >
< The pair was left on the floor, bruised and silent as they refused to even look at each other. Maybe… Maybe this was it for them.. >
< Igneous sat in the underwhelming silence between the pair, her roaring thoughts more than making up for the sudden hush that had fallen over the room. >
< She couldn’t believe herself, her own actions. She knew she was shitty but did she really have THAT LITTLE self-control?? Pathetic!! >
< Her body was angled away from the shadowguy, arms wrapped around her legs and face half buried. It seems neither quite understood the other as well as originally thought, they couldn’t process a single action from the counterpart! >
< Finally, the usually fiery pippins finally broke the deafening silence. She didn’t need much, just a single, genuine question. >
Wh.. I…. Wh— Why did you keep trying…?
< She noticed Obsidian looking over at her from the corner of his eye, Igneous being encouraged to continue. >
I-I— After the first time I was rude wh-why didn’t you just give up?! I-I don’t understand why you’d stay…
< Weirdly enough, the question felt like a release of tension rather than just piling more and more on.. At the same time, dread filled the shadowguy. Yet, Obsidian held no hesitance in his answer, everything spilling out. >
I.. Be-because despite how much you’ve made me feel like shit and despite how much you don’t seem to believe it I care about you!

< Obsidian wiped at the eyes that weren’t thereon his face, preventing tears from showing. Despite such, he gave a small laugh. >
