i forgot to say that i got impatient (my bandages were gross and kind of smelly bc of general wound seepage) so with my surgeon's guidance i took them off on saturday so i am free! got some scabs and some very minor bruising which is already almost entirely yellow so it doesn't even look too gnarly. i'm really pleased with how it's looking already AND i got to shower by myself today which was such a nice feeling.

i've also been poking and prodding everything to figure where i have sensation, although of course that will change and i'll probably get some feeling back in some areas when i'm further down the road to recovery. right now i can kind of tell where the dead spots are because they just feel like a weird pressure on my chest even when nothing is touching it. super excited to see how it develops!

hardest part of recovery is not the pain or the discomfort or the mental fatigue, it's that i can't pick the shit out of all the scabs on me right now

while i'm recovering, i can't stretch and pop a lot of my joints, particularly my back and shoulders, which sucks because i have very slidey shoulders. however, i have discovered that while on my back, i can stretch my legs out a certain way to pop my lower back/hips/knees all at once, hands-free, and it feels sooooo good
