Noahâs energy level upon seeing the canine was just about where Spencerâs was when he discovered the fluffy animal at the shelter. He tried with difficulty to make mental note of the maleâs barrage of questions so that he could answer them in order. Laughing, Spence tried to ease Noah down, kissing the side of his head and putting his arms around their shoulders to keep him grounded, rather than vibrating up and down. âYes, I adopted him. Curious use of the word âourâ,â Spence observed keenly, but chuckled because he wasnât mad at it. âYeah, we had better get him more familiar to the both of our scents. I decided to name him PĂ©pin Child Fawcett, after famous chefs Jacques PĂ©pin and Julia Child. We donât know his exact birth date, but they said he was between 2 and 3 years old. They told me that his breed lives about ten years or somethinâ.â Spencer led them over to Pepinâs spot on the rug and kneeled. âPepin, this is Noah. Noah, this is Pepin.â He smiled stupidly as he gazed down at the animal, happy to finally have another real friend in his life here in Chicago, other than Noah and Michael. âPepin, Noahâs my current obsession, so youâll see him âround a lot,â he joked, laughing as he nudged the other with his elbow. âHe likes to be pet a lot, thatâs probably the best way for you to get on his good side. He loves head scratches, butt scratches, all that. Yes, you can buy him toys, but I donât gotta be trippinâ over doggy toys every time I take a step âround my apartment, so donât go overboard.â Spencer was absolutely elated to see Noah as into Pepin as he was. It was so wholesome and refreshing, and he felt like another piece of their life puzzle had just secured itself into place. âAs for sleeping with us, I couldnât possible tell him no, when we sleep at my place, that is. He absolutely cannot sleep with us in your twin bed.â
If Spencer hadnât lowered him down and placed his strong arm on his shoulders then Noah would have continued jumping off the walls in excitement. The blonde hadnât even realised that he used the word âourâ until Spencer pointed it out, but it had got to the stage where everything he considered in his mind involved his boyfriend, it was a life they shared now. Noah was still buzzing with excitement as they approached the dog and he immediately sat down on the floor next to him. âNice to meet you Pepin, Iâm going to be your new best friend and sneak you treats when Daddy isnât lookingâ he grinned as he followed the advice and went in to begin petting the huge dog. After some initial hesitation on Pepinâs part to the new scent and feel of Noahâs small hands he seemed to relax and lean into the petting. âThatâs true, there is barely enough space in their for the two of us, it only works because we sleep on top of each otherâ he chuckled, stopping the petting to look back at Spencer. But that did not sit well with Pepin who pawed at Noah to return his attention to him, even going to far as to try and climb on him to lick his face. A feat which given Noahâs small frame caused him to be engulfed by the furry ball of love.
