โ Ah, Constance, โ a twinge of surprise escaped her lips as she regarded the others within her line of vision. In truth, for the moment she was preoccupied with the painful sensations of the blood boiling in her veins โ the unpredictable nature of her major crest that singes her being despite the subdued intensity of her training regimen.ย ย
โ Surely you mayโ โย and there she was, speaking again as if there was no stopping her once the words started pouring out from her lips. Yet, in spite of the interruption Edelgard listened to every word uttered by the other diligently whilst she wiped the beads of sweat from her forehead with the visible article lying atop the benches.ย โ Your concern is much appreciated, Constance. I โ thank you for staying by my side after all this time. โ
A smile she offered, as if to mirror the radiance of the sunlight that beamed outside of the confines of this training ground. In truth, she had grown weary over the years โ the stalemate, the thought of greeting her former peers on the battlefieldโฆ in truth, she could only anxiously anticipate the end of war.ย ย โ Perhaps you can share a meal with me. I am quite famished after my training, I must admit. โ
The request was unanticipated. Such a simple request. Though perhaps it was the simple things her heart desired in such a time of turmoil.ย โ If that is Her Majestyโs only desire, then it would only behoove me to grant it. Why, the very idea of dining with you is most appealing.โ From her pocket, Constance pulled out a handkerchief. All white and pristine with laced edges. Offering the small piece of fabric to Edelgard with a smile, Constance took a step closer. Though she was careful to stay in the shade.ย
Perhaps it was just from the exertion of training, but something nagged at the edge of her heart as she watched Edelgard.ย โ Are you quite certain there is nothing else I can aid you with ? It is not easily discernible, but you look a mite unwell to my trained eyes. โ She paused, not sure if she should continue. Worry won over reason and she spoke on.ย โ I cannot help but be uneasy when I see you ailing. โย
Her smile faltered so briefly it could have been easily missed.ย โ You burn so incandescently. Positively resplendent. But one can only do so for a limited time. โย She tried to choose her words carefully so as to not offend, but she also wanted to speak her mind. It was the only way to understand one another.ย โย ย I, too, shed a bright light. It is fine for you to dim on occasion.โย
The only thing Constance could offer was her support.ย The path they were on could be traversed together. If Edelgard denied her, she would accept that. There would be no choice but to abide by her wishes. If not, however. . Constance would offer all she could.ย โI may look delicate, but I assure you my shoulders are quite strong. Stable enough for you to lean on should you have need.ย โ
