Paid service with no ads: Well, if they're not funding it with ad revenue, they need to charge us something.
Paid service with ads: Well that's bullshit.

Blossoms of Power reminds me of reading North and South.
The novel started from Margaret Hale's point of view, but in an effort to keep you in suspense about whether she would end up with John Thornton, didn't share Margaret's thoughts and feelings while sharing John's.
Blossoms of Power does the same thing. Shen Xi He/Gu Qing Zhi feelings are rarely expressed (even in private) and I feel shortchanged as a woman who's interested in women-centric stories.

Xiao Hua Yong and Xiao Chang Ying
I just saw someone call Xiao Hua Yong a Green Tea Man!
Never heard this before!
It fits perfect 👌
P.S Not to be confused with green flag.
all the rights that come with marriage you should be able to have without marriage btw. you should be able to designate a person who can visit you in the hospital regardless of your relationship to that person.
Shen Xi He refusing to plan and organise the banquet has 'Act Your Wage' energy.
Love that for my girl 😍
How has Tian Yuan not died from second hand embarrassment!?
I almost imploded with cringe when Xiao Hua Yong was begging for the 'knot'.

has anyone figured out how to turn off the thing where you love your pet so much it slides inexorably into grief-borrowing
“For me this glass is already broken. I enjoy it; I drink out of it. It holds my water admirably, sometimes even reflecting the sun in beautiful patterns. If I should tap it, it has a lovely ring to it. But when I put this glass on the shelf and the wind knocks it over or my elbow brushes it off the table and it falls to the ground and shatters, I say, ‘Of course.’ When I understand that the glass is already broken, every moment with it is precious.”

Gu Qing Zhi (Shen Xi He) is a fascinating character.
I initially didn't care for her, because there was so little insight into her thoughts.
But now that I've had time to watch her, she's surprisingly contradictory.
For someone who's as 'cunning' and 'ruthless' as her, she is surprisingly inflexible.
Even though seducing Xiao Hua Yong would be the logical play, she chooses to be honest with him about her lack of feelings.
She's cruel to her ex(?) despite the potential of it backfiring.
She wants to break up with Xiao Hua Yong because he lied to her
(turning down a crown prince might not the best move).
She abides by her moral(?) code inspite of the potential cost.
For someone who was very private and cold, the warmth of Shen Xi He's family genuinely moves her, which does indicate her previous life was one in which she couldn't really be warm and vulnerable.
