it's my 23rd birthday today. i guess i thought i'd write something reflective, but my life isn't all that interesting, so i'm just going to ramble a little. for today is the day to do whatever makes me happy !
i sort of planned to write a birthday fic as a gift to myself, but as it got closer to the date i got less interested. maybe next year it's still a fic i'd like to write, but ultimately i think i left it too late for what i wanted to do. it was a JillMist high school au, because i think they have a sort of high school yuri vibe, and the reason it was going to be for my birthday was because it was particularly self indulgent. i'll work on it some other time. i don't really feel like i missed out on anything by not posting a fic today lol. i did draw fanart of severa for myself though.
you get less gifts as you get older anyways, but i got a couple books and a kirby plushie, so i'm happy ! a dear online friend also made a silly little collage of characters i like wearing party hats and it touched me very deeply. i think because i tend to be a little quiet about some of my interests, with the thought that i'll annoy people if i talk about them, or things like that, that knowing someone cares and knows me like that is very sweet.
outside of the whole birthday thing, if we're talking about me, personally, then i'd like to keep being happy. i think i'd like to make more friends... that's something i've been thinking about recently. i think i should probably go to university next year, but i still don't know what i want to do. even though i'm 23, this kind of topic is still too big for me to talk about, so i'm going to talk about other things.
i've been reading more this year, which is really nice. i think between the ages of about 17 and 21 i would read about one book a year, and almost halfway into this one i've read 13. (i read ten last year, but funnily enough nine of those were after i turned 22.) it's been nice to get into! my one problem is simply that a lot of the books i'm interested in reading are surprisingly annoying to get a hold of haha.
as for games... well, i played the hundred line in may. all of it. i feel a little bad that i might have rushed through it, and worry that it may have impacted my enjoyment of it a little, but i really couldn't put it down at the time. that and i do hate getting spoiled, which was inevitable no matter how many words i muted on twitter... i feel like i haven't played much else this year, or at least that i haven't finished much. i'm currently juggling unicorn overlord (which was put on hold earlier in the year to make room for hundred line) and kirby: planet robobot. fe6 is somewhere on the back burner... there are a ton of games i'd really like to play though. i'm thinking of getting into visual novels a little more.
oh, and i'd like to actually work on learning japanese again... i'm unfortunately really bad at applying myself >_< but i think i can do it. i'd like to do it. i will do my very best. ganbatte, et cetera

In his fantasies, Camilla hadn't cared that they were related. Leo has noticed, irritably, that he does not fantasise about a life where she is not his sister. He wouldn't know her if they weren't, would never have developed his wretched feelings. There would be nothing to drown out, to hide.
On her wedding night, he drank until he forgot the details. Blurry memories shrouding one clear moment: When he'd come so close to bloodying his hands—steadying his palm on an exposed shoulder, so sour at Elise's slight purple temptation that he'd almost taken the only sister he could.

As per usual, Farina was right: she makes a model pirate, born for the sea. Carries a different air compared to when she was a mercenary—Dart still hasn't figured out the whole story about that. Something about how you can't fool a pegasus, so as soon as it stopped working out for her, she'd marched straight to Port Badon and demanded to board his ship (like they weren't docked).
She's as confusing as a treasure map's riddle, but she rakes in plenty coin. The crew all love her—and most confusing of all, Dart finds that he's fallen too.

They'll burn up together. Hiruko is quietly relieved as she cups Takumi's face—he'll die as himself. He'll follow the rest of their friends; she'll follow him anywhere.
She hopes he can't feel her lips tremble. What if this time, as punishment for making it to the end of this doomed timeline she selfishly gave up on, she doesn't come back?
His cheeks are warm beneath her thumbs. A shrill sound skewers the stagnant air. Hiruko's eyes fix on that clueless, shocked face until a white light sparks and blinds her.
The flames cradle them. The loop consumes her again.

His mother is worn journals and a ring. Stacks of faded research, torn pages and blotted ink. She is obscured beneath the brim of a hat that is now his. She is not a corpse, like his father is. Laurent did not bury her. Ergo, she may yet come back.
She'd be fascinated with him now, he thinks. The daughter she left behind now a son—a name recovered from the pages of a personal record, a log leading up to his birth. His mother was a scholar, a scientist. Laurent, with his pupillary hand, picks up anything she started.
