My oldest brother and I are walking down the street, we begin talking to a nice looking girl who is walking in the same direction. Eventually... Martin: I'm 25, hah, how old do you think this guy is? *gestures to me* Pretty Stranger: Hmmm, you guys look about 3 or 4 years apart Martin & Me: Wow... that's spot on Pretty Stranger: Yeah... he's 28 or 29? It's little moments like these that really keep me on cloud nine.

I was a gossip today, and I didn't realize until just now. I feel naive and immature, hopefully I'm just overreacting and nobody gives a damn or forgets cause it's the summer; but if not, at least I can see it coming.

My Emotional Cognition

One of the more captivating and mesmerizing conversations of my life took place this Saturday night. For the past several months I have been baffled by the way my friends seem to react and respond to my advice and opinions versus those of other peers. It dawned on me; for better or worse, I always mean what I say. I contrast with my friend Lyle in that we both make quick and instinctual decisions, only his are made absolutely without emotion and mine are entirely grounded in it. This means when I say you look nice today, I genuinely feel that way, but consequently when I criticize or disagree with you, I really mean it as well. As a result, my social life consists of very strong feelings both positive and negative as friends and family take what I say very much to heart, though too frequently more weight is given to the critical rather than the complimentary things I say. Over the past few days I have thought about nothing but this and have come to the conclusion that I'm alright with this. I will be more mindful about the way people receive what I say, but I would take the roller coaster relationship over stasis any day. By the way, I truly mean the compliments more than the criticisms.

Here's to the peaks and valleys, friends.
