A commingling of ideas and expressions that are written, spoken, thought, felt, & recorded. Fact and fiction, gloriously documented somewhere in between the empty space and the filled. Events told during my own depression and it's aftermath. Experienced by myself as both a mental health consumer and a mental health professional. I'm both a psychotherapist and an artist. I live & work in the neglected streets of East Oakland, CA. Invitation is open to others to share what ever moves you. Memories of the past and childhood events, mixed with the cold harsh reality of daily life on it's most basic level, and beyond to rise up. Drugs, shop-lifting, sex, self hurt to feel. Weaving together a blog that is accessible, sensual, and often skirts the edge of what it means to be surviving ghetto life, mental illness, being bi-sexual, disabled, a single parent, & poor. All with little emotional support. Yet continuing to make art, write, & survive. Through the power of determination to empower. Healing one-self and others, while continuing to be told "you can't" at most every turn. This is a story of BEING, told from many vantage points and voices. Through a kaleidoscope of great size, we emerge triumphant.

Colin & Lucy 7.27.13 Blue Noel Blessing iPhone 4 I took this photo at six o'clock in the evening after a few of us had lugged all the remaining left over party items up from the shores of Lake Anza, right after the end of Ineca's thirtieth birthday party. The fog was creeping in, in fast and furious droves over the hill tops and it was becoming increasing colder outside, even though on the calendar it read nearly August first, and this was the state of California! Colin & Lucy agreed to pose for me, and it wasn't difficult at all to get them to smile, as they were at ease with each other, seemingly in love I thought to myself, and it made me feel good inside.
