Her energy– and subsequentially, her grip– evaporated in a fraction of a second after Mayuri stuck her. She slumped onto the table, her elbow collided against the edge. She was too numb to have felt her arm tingle, not nearly numb enough to ease her resilient thoughts. Reality, like sensation, abandoned her and she felt like she had been stuffed with synthetic fibers like a cheap plush toy.

Had she vocalized these thoughts, he would have been very, very offended. Dishonest? He was no such thing. Underhanded, depraved, uncaring perhaps. But he wasn’t much of a liar. On the contrary, he’d say to your face what he was going to do to you. He couldn’t help but brag when it came to what he was doing. At best, he simply wouldn’t alert you to his work; but that wasn’t the same as lying.
And besides, he was more than capable of fixing internal injuries quickly. This was a man who could perform surgery on him self in minutes. And it would be the same for her here.
It was quick; hardly three minutes were required for him to open her up, get the blood out, stitch things back together, and sew her back up good as new. And then he simply injected her with another drug, which would swiftly get her moving again.
“There, finished. You can discuss payment with my subordinates.” And with that, he turned to leave, to get other things taken care of. He had more to do after all.
