every year, the residents of new hope, kansas get together to celebrate another plentiful harvest. a tradition going back over 100 years, the jefferson family hosts the festival on their many acres - a place where the town can release their stress, have fun, and commune before the weather changes for the worst and they’re all holed up for winter.
though there’s been talk of closing down the festival this year, the jefferson family has decided to go ahead with it - and merely include an homage to the ellis family. a memorial, taking place on the second night, is planned to honor the tragedy that ripped through the town of new hope. donations will be collected for the sole survivor - molly ellis - in hopes that she can put the event behind her as she moves on with a foster family in missouri.
always a family focused event, the potential for danger never feels so imminent. a previously sleepy town, everyone’s awake now - and they’ll all be in one place for three days.

local businesses are invited to host a booth to sell their goods, as well as businesses from the local county area. there are shops, food and drinking establishments to provide goods for those who come to participate.
the jefferson’s host a haunted farm house, a hay ride, and a corn maze to participate in for kids of all ages. there’s a pumpkin patch and a pumpkin carving area as well, so that people can create their own jack-o-laterns.
the memorial will be held saturday, october 16th at 6pm in the universe.
while the event usually draws a large enough crowd from new hope as well as surrounding towns and communities, this year it will be packed to capacity due to the press coverage and lurkers of the ellis family tragedy.
