About Akaashi's Star Report
For such a long time, fanwork has explored quite a few times the possibility of Akaashi having a list of Bokuto’s strengths, to go alongside his weaknesses. And now that the haikyuu guidebook has given us Akaashi adoring Bokuto, Akaashi longing and yearning for Bokuto, and “Akaashi’s star report”, my bokuaka brainrot brain has been itching to write a new... whatever it is that I write on here.
All this new information has confirmed what we frankly already knew: that Akaashi thinks about Bokuto way too much, both for his feelings to be interpreted as purely platonic, and in general.
This is especially true during their matches at inter high, which are presented through Akaashi’s viewpoint. Bokuto is a big, a huge focus, while we get to see very little of everyone else.
He also tends to think about Bokuto’s back an abnormal amount, which, along with Akaashi’s insecurities and insane standards for himself, seems to suggest that he always feels like he is just behind Bokuto. But this post isn’t about that lol
These shots... Does he really need to picture Bokuto like that? Does he really?
This is just plain hilarious. His face is stoic and inexpressive, while his head is filled with Bokuto™. I also want to bring your attention to the real Bokuto, being all goofy and frustrated and definitely not cool. And now compare him to how Akaashi sees him.
Here Akaashi is literally ignoring what coach Yamiji’s trying to tell him in favor of thinking about Bokuto some more.
And to the surprise of, huh, no one, Akaashi also thinks about him in his free time. All the time apparently. Wild!
"often thought of as a weird person, to prove that Bokuto-san is indeed a true star, Akaashi has conducted a thorough investigation”.
This is... a lot of work. This “thorough investigation” sounds like it must’ve taken him a lot of time and energy to compile that report. And for what?
The premise of this report is, Akaashi honestly, deeply believes Bokuto is a Star—not a star player, mind you, a Star period. He calls him a star a bunch of times (6 in total, I have a post about that, too) and has done so in front of people as well, like it is the most natural and obvious thing in the world.
Look at how fcking serious he is.
He cannot comprehend how everyone else could be missing the obvious—Bokuto is boisterous and loud, he is expansive and he shines so brightly—how could anyone not see it?
So he compiles a whole report to prove his point to all those people who just can’t seem to get how charming and amazing and hot Bokuto really is. Or at least, in Akaashi's eyes.
Also, the implications of this whole thing. Does this mean he has shown the essay to anyone...? He’s such a godforsaken nerd my god
Also, he concludes his essay by saying he still doesn’t understand Bokuto, and may I add, why he sees him that way. Meaning Akaashi spends a big chunk of his time analyzing and trying to understand Bokuto for himself, not just to prove his point, and most importantly: not only for the sake of getting him out of his emo modes during volleyball.
Earlier I pointed out how he thinks Bokuto is a Star, not just a star player. Out of six times, he only calls him that once, when he is in front of his other teammates, and with the focus of the conversation on volleyball practice.
Meaning Akaashi isn't solely drawn to Bokuto for his volleyball skills, those don't even seem to be the main reason Akaashi sticks with and thinks about Bokuto as much as he does.
The points in his report don’t even have anything to do with volleyball— the first paragraph concerns Bokuto’s interest in difficult words and kanji???? Weren't you collecting his weaknesses on the court??? For the VOLLEYBALL???? Cause if that's the case, the whole thing has definitely gotten out of hand.
