Decapod of the day: Coenobita scaevola | Red Sea Land Hermit Crab
Well meaning people are not always going to be able to understanding an issue. The way the human mind works, you have to practice thinking in a specific way to be able to do so, especially if you are used to thinking about that subject in a different way. It's like back in the days wagon wheels, over time, would wear away at the ground and create a pair of channels in the ground. Breaking out of those channels to go somewhere new takes more effort than just following the old path. Sometimes doing so is prohibitively difficult and great effort will be required to resurface the road. It will not happen over night.
For example, 20 years ago, many people i knew simply could not comprehend the idea of a trans person. The idea simply would not compute. You could practically see the gears grinding to a halt as they did their best to understand and completely failed. People often respond quite poorly when this happens, but not always.
These days in my little corner of the world everyone has at least some intellectual understanding of the idea of being trans, so you don't get the failure to compute reponse basically ever. It doesn't mean they are going to be nice about it, but at least they can comprehend.
These days the thing I see most often resulting in a fail to compute response is disability (especially mental disability) and alternative relationship models, like polyamory or queer platonic partnerships. The idea of forever injured or forever sick especially is hard to get across to people, and the idea that I might be happy that my wife is finding romance with another person is so foreign that people often just refuse to belive it is possible.
The thing to understand is that:
1. This will happen to you, and you need to be prepared to be completely, brain grinding to a halt and smoke pouring out of your ears confused about something without reacting poorly to it. Understand that sometimes your brain is just going to fail you and you have to be prepared to fall back on general ethical principles to minimize harm.
2. Be prepared to help someone who's brain is blue screening with practical steps of how to act they can follow without actually understanding what is going on so they can minimize harm and even help make things better without ever really having a clue.

HOLDING PAWS
imagining a late 18th/early 19th century young lady standing proudly in a fine gown with a labubu clipped to her chatelaine
fellatio sounds like a supporting shakespeare character rather than oral sex on a penis to be honest
just finished this month's book club book, went skimming goodreads reviews afterwards as you do, got my breath taken away by this absolutely brutal ending to one of the multi-paragraph 1 star reviews
if you ever really want to radicalize yourself in favor of youthlib, you should do even some cursory reading about the troubled teen industry and how these schools/camps/jails function. truly truly depraved, and all of it is the system working as intended. parents incentivized or coerced by larger structures into trafficking children for their own benefit and looking the other way as those children are tortured. children as property in need of "training" or "correction" with the end goal of upholding the family's hierarchy if not aesthetic image, all taken to its logical extreme.
