Part 2: Kidney makes the pass (Part 1)
Goodbye Gallbladder
The other day, I was told my gallbladder would have to be removed... it has been terrifying and upsetting since then. Part of me is like “Why is this happening to me? I may not be the healthiest but I’m pretty healthy”... apparently it’s hereditary and has nothing to do with whether you’re healthy or not. I’m scared b/c I know there will be foods I’m no longer allowed to eat; dairy, mac n cheese, spicy foods... basically all my favorite things. Honestly, part of me would rather die than go through with this.
Tomorrow I have my consultation with my surgeon, hoping there is another way I can fix this problem other than removing my gallbladder. I have a list of questions I hope to have answered:
-Does my gallbladder NEED to be removed? Can I not just flush the gallstones out? Could I just not lower my cholesterol? - What food can I not eat? Is this a “never ever” thing or a “only have it once in a while” thing? (e.i. wine? almond milk? cake and dark chocolate? Avacados? peanut butter? raw veggies?) Would vegan and paleo options be good for me? -How long will I be out after surgery? When is recommended to return to school and work? -I heard you gain weight or have trouble losing weight after gallbladder removal... will this be a problem? - I heard this can cause liver problems and maybe even increase my risk of cancer... -can the change in hormones cause new allergies?
i’m so nervous and upset. I also was shocked at the small amount of gallbladderless support blogs... so here I am. Not only is this going to track my progress, but maybe it can also help other people... I’ll report my findings and post some recipes that may help out.
