Cyclonus according to Hot Motor Oil which is not canon but who cares is a hardcore sub. Getaway is domineering and egotistical. The worst kind of dom because he wouldn't consider his subs needs. But that aspect might be the kind of unsafe domination he wants.

I can see Cyclonus watching his manipulation of Tailgate and feeling jealous at the touches, or that he knows how that manipulation must feel and pining for someone to make him pine like that.

It'd be messy, horrifically dark, and Getaway's ego is so massive he would probably give Cyclonus pleasure more than anyone ever has just to watch how smitten he is and keep him coming back

initially, the idea was completely different, but I realized that my idea was no different from the canon, therefore.. ahh tfa stormsurge drawing practice

I liked the mention in the post that one of the main reasons for the appearance of stormsurge is the desire to add more mech to dec. but not in every similar universe will cyclonus decide to abandon his idea and give his child more freedom? I don't know what would be best for stormsurge. he is in a constant war between dec and autobots (being dec), but he is much more often with his carrier, to be "loved" and among his own. or to be in an already constant war with yourself and, as it was said in the original post, to be "on no one's side" and run away with your sire as a result. Who knows what's best for him!!
