There is a video I found from back when I was three, you’re setting up a paint set in the kitchen and talking to me. I hit my peak at seven. I’m thirteen now and don’t know how my friends could be so mean.  At fourteen there’s just so much you can’t do and you can’t wait to move out one day and call your own shots. Good thing my daddy made me get a boating licence when I was fifteen.  Well, I was sixteen when suddenly I wasn’t that little girl you used to see. Something about Roman and his teeth. Something about teeth being linked to food and body and sex and masculinity. Something about tooth rot from too much sugar and bile and metaphorical and actual purgation and body checking and vanity and wanting his teeth to be perfect but he’s his own worst enemy in that regard. It’s something about teeth being the first thing people perceive and him wanting to control that perception. It’s something about teeth being used by predators and his teeth should be strong but they get knocked out by Logan because he’s weak just like his teeth, and it’s about spitting his tooth out into the sink at Argestes along with the flesh of the grape he was eating (and he was eating and he got punished. And then he sees Caroline and if he eats the pigeon he could crack a tooth). It’s something about losing a tooth being a sign of innocence and childishness and the perversion of that by his dad slapping one out of him, and how he’s reverting back to childhood (and oh come on, we’re kids). It’s something about Freud’s theories of linking teeth to masturbation and sexual deficiency, and Roman’s oral fixation (chewing his nails). It’s something about food and sex and eat or be eaten.
