"Tish, you're shaking." Ashley put a hand on Tricia's shoulder and cast a worried look into her eyes. "What on earth's the matter, love?"
Tricia jumps slightly and her heart sinks when she sees that it’s Ashley. She shakes her head and curls more tightly around herself. “Nothing. Please Ash just…I can’t right now.”
"Patricia? Where have you been?"
“That’s none of your concern.”
Someone's just going to lean her head on Ashley's shoulder. "I love you."
Ashley brings Tricia in closer and buries her face in her hair, sighing softly. “I love you too, Tish, so much.”

Ashley looks up at Tricia, emotion clouding her features. “Nor I without you. I hope you know that, Tish. You and your little girl … the two of you saved me.”
Tricia sighs and holds Ashley even closer. “She was an incredible little girl, wasn’t she?” A laugh almost makes its way into the sentence, but she’s still shaking. “I missed so much of her life, Ash. How could she ever forgive me for that?”
"So I hear you have an affinity for members of my family."
“Is that what you’ve heard? Well, you do have a very attractive family.”

A smile appears on James’ face - humour clear in his eyes.
“Oh, I couldn’t possibly say. I’d get into far too much trouble.”
“Smart man. I suppose they don’t call you a genius for nothing, hm?”
Ashley slipped her hand into Tricia's, squeezing it gently. "Are you alright?"
Tricia sighed and shook her head. “I thought of all of them, William was the…he was the one I could stand. Losing that…it’s unbearable.”

Ashley was unsure what to do for a moment - after a brief hesitation she took off her own sweater and wrapped it around Tricia’s shoulders. Ashley slipped an arm around her waist, pulling her in and kissing her hair. “I … I’m so, so sorry, my love. Stay with me, alright? If you want to talk I’m right here, always.”
“I know you are,” she murmured, leaning into Ashley’s touch and laying her head on her shoulder. “Have I ever told you how grateful I am for that?”
Without a word, Ashley settled on Tricia's lap on the couch and tilted her chin up to kiss her deeply. One hand traced slow patterns on Tricia's waist, the other weaving itself into her hair.
Tricia hummed both contentedly and in surprise against Ashley’s lips, but she melted into it easily. After a long moment of nothing but kissing her back, Tricia pulled back to give her lungs some air. “Well then, not that I’m complaining, but what on Earth was that for?”

Ashley relaxed forward into Tricia’s touch, letting the sensations flow through her and focusing on everything about the woman kissing her . She let out a little noise of protest when Tricia pulled back, pressing a final quick kiss to her lips before speaking. “I simply … I missed you, that’s all.”
Tricia smiled softly and tucked a strand of hair behind Ashley’s ear. “I missed you too, so much. I never thought I’d see you again, and that thought...that thought was unbearable.”
Someone's just going to lean her head on Ashley's shoulder. "I love you."

Ashley makes a valiant effort to speak but she can’t seem to get words out, so she just pulls Tricia close and hides in her shoulder. “God I missed you so much,” she finally breathes, looking up with teary eyes. “It’s me who doesn’t deserve you.”
“Ashley Victoria Blackwell bite your tongue! You are the best thing to happen to me and my family.” She hugs her tightly and rubs her back. “I wouldn’t be here without you, Ash.”

“I’m not quite sure what I did do deserve you. I’m ever so grateful to have you in my life, and even more grateful to have you in Helen’s.”
"You’ll forgive me if I’m a bit worried. I do want to believe you - I do. But my mind isn’t doing well to comprehend.”
"I understand, Helen. Just let me know what I can do to help you. Run any test you'd like. I'll do anything. I simply... ever since I woke up, you and your father have been all I've thought of."
"—- I want to run tests. Compare your blood work with mine.”
"Of course. Still your father's daughter I see, searching for an answer to everything through science. Very well. Run any test you'd like. I promise everything should tell you that I am Patricia Magnus. If you truly are Helen...you are my daughter, and I've missed you very much."
"You…Helen? My god sweetheart is that you?”
"—- don’t. It’s not possible."
"Oh my...Helen it's me. I know it seems impossible, but I promise you I'm really here."
"Your biological markers - my mother is dead, but from the moment you walked in here the system seems to think you’re her.”

"I am Helen Magnus and my mother has been dead for quite some time.” It was clear by the expression on her face that she wasn’t the slightest bit amused. It had been difficult growing up without her mother and this was only reminding her of that difficulty. “Who are you?”
"You...Helen?"
Tricia gaped slightly at the woman before her. The last time she'd seen her daughter, she had been a little girl. Now, clearly, obviously and yet unexpectedly, that little girl had grown up.
"It's me, darling. I know that probably seems impossible, but I promise you it is me!"

"I'm sorry?"
For several long moments Helen couldn’t seem to find any words. The extensive vocabulary she had always been so proud of was failing her. Her lips parted and still no words came, only a strange groan as she struggled to find her voice. Finally after forcing herself to regroup she shook her head and swallowed thickly, her long lashes batting rapidly as she fought to clear her clouded mind. ”I beg your pardon?”
Tricia observed the other woman's behavior with confusion. She wasn't sure why her daughter's name seemed to be causing such confusion.
"I...I'm sorry, do you know her? I don't mean you any harm, I'm simply... well it has been quite some time since we have seen each other and I'd like... I'd like very much to see her again."
Helen’s eyes opened at the unexpected voice and she shifted in her chair. "Forgive me, I wasn’t aware I had a visitor. What’s your daughter’s name? There is a good chance that I do.”
"There's nothing to forgive. I did arrive somewhat unexpectedly."
Tricia fidgeted nervously before letting out a sigh.
"My daughter's name is Helen, Helen Magnus. At least...that would have been her name. I'm not sure if she married or... changed it in all this time, but that's what I know her as."
