So the first half of our thesis--collaboration of a cultural norm--I'm good with. The second half "and its use in the classroom" is my sticking point.

basic writing and basic writers: that can work. heroes and young adult readers: that can work.

i thought the thesis/project was going to focus on young avengers. that is maybe where i was off track. i didn't realize that you were planning to focus more on hawkeye or other works--i though those would be mentioned along the way sort of as a sidebar or a oh-and-also-this-and-this sort of thing.

Well, it was going to primarily focus on YA in its first incarnation. I gave Hawkeye more stage time when we needed it to be a teaching guide.

Now, if we want to just write our initial paper and make it tangentially related to the classroom (as in, "here's what you need to get") then I'm cool with that.

I've renamed this "Hawkeye Section" in case we ditch it.

You know, I feel better about going with the original plan of just kind of focusing on YA.

I'm going to make a new doc and let's re-outline.

National Conference

From the archives, also known as The Bottom of My Old Purse: the very beginnings of a draft. Two pages of notes we created sitting on long benches at Fassler Hall one April afternoon. Yes, I (Beam) wrote these and, yes, I date all documents.

So we wrote a thing. And we’re gonna share how we made it.

We promised to share notes about the writing process, chat transcripts, and outlines of the essay.

The essay collection that our paper about Gillen, McKelvie, et al.’s The Young Avengers run will appear in is still in the works. I’m helping to edit the entire collection right now at a coffee shop in mid-America--Oklahoma, specifically. Literally listening to Starship’s “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” on the actual radio.

P.S. Also: hell yeah I AM wearing purple for Spirit Day.
