Of the trees in the first two panels, Walt Kelly's is the one I didn't imitate very well, the others are decent representations. What's funny is that outside of comics, I specialize in drawing trees. I draw very cool, interesting, detailed trees. Perhaps this is why I am always admiring other cartoonists' trees. Yet, within my own strip, I go for the puffball on a stick with a vague vine.

I normally up my scan exposure in order to get close to true black-and-white, so I had to mess around with my settings to get the correction tape to actually show up.

I made up Champ's little blue flowers, but they're based on the little purple duranta (golden dewdrop) flowers that used to grow by my house. They smelled like cotton candy.
