It was a shitty day. Well more like a shitty morning. It wasn’t even noon yet and Cooper just wanted this day to be over. No, he more so wanted this week to be over. This case was killing him and Meg was driving him up a wall and he had no idea what the hell to do with her. She was his sister though and he couldn’t give up on her. Cooper’s mind was all over the place but being called to a scene at five in the morning wasn’t his favorite thing. Well it was but not when he didn’t have his coffee. Cooper needed it, he needed coffee so badly. Once he arrived to the scene it was a madhouse, thankfully it was outside so it was a little bit more organized but Cooper took a deep breath. He wasn’t sure what was in store for him today. Cooper was hoping this case would go smoothly but that was rare for the male and rare for the Homicide unit. Sometimes it took a few days or a week. Cooper hoped to God that it didn’t take a week this time, he needed a brake. A brake from all the madness that was happening right now. He loved is job, truly, he loved being a Detective but sometimes Cooper needed a brake from it. Standing in front of the yellow tape, Cooper looked down at the victim and shook his head. This was going to be a rough one he could tell. Swallowing hard the wind hit his face and Cooper looked up for a moment. His heart dropped into his stomach.
This wasn’t right. What was she doing here? Was it really her? Nora couldn’t be here. Cooper didn’t need this. He did not need this. He could feel his color drain from his face and when his partner asked if he was okay the male just shook it off. Cooper wasn’t okay. It felt like he had just seen a ghost and the man swallowed hard again. Cooper stood there for a moment. His feet were glued to the ground, he couldn’t move. Feeling sick, Cooper walked up to her. He was about to open his mouth and say something but then his Sargent did it for him. Taking a few moments to collect his thoughts, Cooper looked at her again and shook his head “Excuse me, Detective Freeman is it?” He was being an asshole. Of course he was. He needed to be. It was the only way that Cooper knew how to cope with this. Cope with the fact that this might be real. “You can’t be here right now. This is for Homicide. Not sure why they called you in.”

Nora had finally felt comfortable enough to leave Jane and Abby by themselves while she went to work. Her paperwork had already been filled out and the transfer had been completed so it was only when Nora had let them know a few days prior that she was ready for work that she knew that she was going to get a case at any time. There wasn’t much crime happening in Eureka - at least that she was aware of - and when she got the call about a robbery gone wrong resulting in a homicide, she grabbed her things and headed out the door. She wrote a note to let Jane know where she had gone and left all the numbers where she could be reached at any given time so that she knew all of her bases were covered. When she got the location, she had met up with her new partner and got caught up on the case in question and then headed to where the robbery took place. Everybody was already on sight and gathering what evidence was available and she hadn’t been paying too much attention until she saw him - the one that she hadn’t expected to see ever again. Her heart beat faster against her chest and her palms started to sweat but she was at work so she had to keep her cool. She was introduced to the sargent and all the others that were working the case and she couldn’t help but keep her eyes on him.
When he started to speak, her gaze met his and then narrowed before she shook her own head. God he could be such an asshole at times and she wanted nothing more than to just walk away but she couldn’t. Her feet stayed glued and she could feel eyes on her but her demeanor never changed or wavered. “That would be correct, Detective Hawkins,” she responded, a laugh soon following - one that she didn’t mean to come out. “I’m sorry but you might want to take a look around. The homicide happened during a robbery and I’m with the robbery-homicide unit so yes I’m supposed to be here. Might want to get some coffee in your system before you start saying that people shouldn’t be here,” she retorted. “Now, if you excuse me, some of us have cases to solve. Might want to try it sometime.” The blonde rolled her eyes as she finished working on the case and the things that she needed to take care of. When they were almost through, she headed over to the other detective and gave him the information that she had. Thankfully, they were far from the others to hear. “Stop being such an asshole and just pretend like you don’t know me, got it? Keep it professional. Think you can manage that?”
