It’s Yvvy here and I just wanted to draw attention to my friend Kat (tumblr) who isn’t in a very safe environment right now and needs help. Please have a read and see if there’s any way you can help, even if it’s just by reblogging this.
Hi there! My name is Kat, and I’m currently 17 years old and bisexual. I currently live in a home that is very toxic for my mental health, and in January, when I turn 18, I’m hoping to move out to live on my own - preferably with roommates, though.
My parents are both strongly Christian; my dad is the youth pastor at the church we attend. I don’t believe what they believe, and I’m forced to listen to beliefs that seem simply hateful to me on a weekly basis. They are also strongly homophobic, thus if I were to come out as bisexual, I would probably be kicked out anyway. So I’ve suffered in silence.
Lately, things have gotten a lot worse. My parents trashed my room to search it, looking for what, I don’t know. But they did find my journal, and proceeded to read it. They took away all forms of communication that I have to be able to talk to my support system of friends, so I’ve been having bad episodes of anxiety attacks and depression. They also took away my car, as well as threatening to make me quit my job, although they didn’t actually go through with that one thankfully. They’ve gone through my room multiple times since the first time, but not as badly as the first.
Now I’m hoping that, with your help, I will be able to move out and live on my own. I’m currently saving my paychecks to try and get enough funds, but I know it won’t be enough by January to get me started because my job doesn’t allow minors to work more than 4 hours at a time. By the time I’m 18, I can work for a lot longer though, probably doubling my paychecks’ amounts that I get currently.
I haven’t been able to look for a place to stay, yet, mainly because I haven’t had access to the means to (I’m currently sneaking to do this campaign while my parents sleep on one of their laptops they left out on an incognito window). It’s probably also too early to get a place for certain without knowing if I’ll have sufficient funds.
I know for sure that I will need a bike, just something to be able to transport me since I can’t always depend on others for a ride.
I don’t know what I will be able to do for my medications for my anxiety/depression and chronic migraines once I move out, but maybe these funds can help with that as well.
I don’t know whether or not the goal set is one that makes sense and is reasonable or not. Hopefully you guys can help out anyway you can, even if it is just a dollar or so.
