Bad Braids “White Mane” - Philadelphia, PA - 09/06/2012
Back in early September we were invited out to enjoy a lovely night of folk, outside, on the beautiful grounds of Rigby Mansion. If you’re not familiar, Rigby Mansion is an enormous historical property located just on the outskirts of Philadelphia. A few times a month the unequivocal venue plays host to a show, showcasing the respective artists playing on a dimly lit, wrap around porch, while the audience sits on blankets in the grass, looking onward at the mansion as a backdrop to the spotlighted musician in the foreground.
We present Bad Braids for our first installment, one of the four acts that night, all of which we documented throughout the house in various rooms. Centering on Philadelphia based songwriter Megan Biscieglia, accompanied by her friend Mike on Banjo, the duo found themselves sitting and playing in a Victorian styled, claw-footed bathtub that evening, performing a song called “White Mane.” Enjoy.
Happy Release Day to Field Report!
Christopher Porterfield & Co., known collectively as Field Report, released their self-titled debut album today through Partisan Records. Porterfield was one of the musicians in that other Justin Vernon band before Vernon became Bon Iver (the other members became Megafaun). Porterfield then embarked on his own path first as Conrad Plymouth and now, five years later, as Field Report.
If you haven't already streamed the album 3258 times over on Billboard, go ahead and do it now! It's also on Spotify, and you can purchase it here (or, as Chris Porterfield suggests, at your local record store).
Here's a live session of "Fergus Falls" recorded by Out of Town Films at WXPN's XPoNential Music Festival back in July:
And if you ever have any inquiries for the band feel free to text them at (414)215-9956. No joke!

Pale Seas premier their video for "Bodies"
From the band:
We're very happy to share with you our new video for our Bodies single. Shot by our good friend Jack Bowden out in the Hampshire country side, the video depicts three girls paying their respects to the death of a close friend in a dark but beautiful ritual.

Birmingham: Afro-poppers PEACE announce date for new EP [+ free download]
Take a listen to the lazy-hazy, instant-classic sounding and unabashedly catchy latest track from the typically super-energetic four-piece, and then swap your email for a free download. "California Daze" is just one slice of the band's mouthwateringly-outfitted Delicious EP, due to be out on September 9th.

Mumford & Sons - "I Will Wait"
The much-anticipated new album from Mumford & Sons won't be out until September 24th but they kindly released the first single from the album earlier today. "I Will Wait" is the third track on Babel, which includes several tracks that avid attendees of Mumford & Sons shows may recognize.

SWIM DEEP - "King City"
Birmingham's SWIM DEEP announced earlier today that they have signed to Sony's RCA imprint. That's pretty huge for the scuzzy indie band, who released the single "King City" (above) as well as the b-side "Beach Justice" through Chess Club Records earlier this year and now look forward to recording their first full length.

Pale Seas - "Bodies"
Exciting news came out of the Pale Seas camp today. Their forthcoming limited edition 'Bodies'/'My Own Mind' 7" will be released through the luminary Communion label. We've been following this band's navigation through the murky waters of "new band" status for almost a year now and as they enter their second year of being, it looks like only good things for them. ((do you think it's about time for a full-length to poke its head over the horizon? That would be nice))
