Beautiful lulling tune; this American sounding track is actually made by South London Quartet: Bleach Lab. This shoegazey, Mazzy Star style track “Sleep” belies a more subtle 90s sentimentality from possible college radio influences like the Cranberries or even James; just a vibe a got ;)

I promised you guys I would get something up before the year is over, and I’m barely gonna make it! The latest from my lovely Seattle ladies (and guy) Tacocat! Can’t beat the vocals. Always takes me back to late 70s punk right? (Not that I was alive to remember lol). Happy New Years everyone!

Ben Zaidi & Budo get their R&B, a-la Bon Iver, vibe on for this beautiful and heartfelt track “Independence Day”. Some jazz, some baroque, some modern r’n’b, and Washed Out are all rolled into this 3 and a half minute track. Seattle artist Ben Zaidi had some help with Tyler Dopps mixing and Budo handling production. If you dig this I recommend listening to his full length ABANDONISM; big mood.

If you haven’t heard locals Golden Gardens, you’ve been missing out on some ethereal aural blessings. This is the latest track from the lovely duo who I had the good fortune of seeing a couple weeks back here in town. They are currently on a nation-wide tour in support of this track, their classics, and... hopefully some new stuff?

Do you have an island flavored indie twee-pop(is there even ‘mainstream’ twee pop? lol) track from Julia Massey called “Kate and Ryan (Let’s have an Adventure)” that you can share? Yes listener, I do! This track was apparently “commissioned by a dear friend on the anniversary of her and her lovely and adoring partner!” which makes it just a little bit more special. :)

Speaking of local favorites. Have you guys heard the new NAVVI yet? Total fire. This is the new track I’ve been stuck on this week. Cavernous yet cloudy, flowy yet personable. Can’t get enough.

Finally! My favorite local artist has officially released this well loved but totally unavailable track (Spotify boo-ya!). It’s rumored that they may have some new music in the works for next year? (I can hope) But for now I can at least listen to this track again finally.

Chill pop alumni Naavi are back with a new single and album. This track “Us” reminds me of why I like the duo in the first place; Right mood, Sexy as hell and smooth as ice.

“Soft Stud” is a perfectly slippery love song à la PJ Harvey or Hole. I’ve been enjoying it for the past week and knew it was time to get it on NWTS. Black Belt Eagle Scout’s rich words keep your mind working on the lyrics days after listening. Besides, the music is just plain fun!

Recent Cornish College of the Arts graduate Alda Agustiano goes by the name Chong the Nomad and makes perfectly quirky dance tracks, which differ greatly from track to track. This one here, “Pompelmo”, is maybe the quirkiest of the bunch. With every possible oddity thrown into the mix, it makes for a wonderfully fun ride to be sure.

Drowsy, blurry, incongruous; these are just three words one might use to go about describing Joe Waine’s music. In this vein we hear Joe Waine repeating “I felt a silhouette of your love” on this track “Silver Hair”. This is but one track in a slew of similar songs found on his perfectly hypnotizing Pantomime album, which I highly recommend checking out in full on his Soundcloud page.

Local punk band Wimps, have just announced that their new album will come out July 13, to much fanfare here at NWTS! It’s been a couple years since we’ve heard an official release from the band and you can bet I’ll be posting more from them once said release is available!

This beautifully jarring and math-y post punk piece is a cyclical wonder; from the “Then Some” category here comes some punk I couldn’t resist sharing from Kluster. Midway through the song things take a twist and start to wander, getting a little psychedelic even and after trudging through a breakdown or two Kluster round it all out with the angular blasts that started off the track. What’s incredible is how emotionally balanced it is; at no one point does this song feel boring or act as a strain on your attention span. It’s like fruit that, thanks to the meaty fiber, releases a stream of sugar in steady doses.

Angular, Math, Television, Punk, Warped, Progressive, Tasty, Circular. And that’s my strongest recommendation for Jo Passed, who have a full length debut out in May. But this is a lovely sampler, good for holding us over til lent is done.

This high energy track from Portlander Dylan Stark turbo-charged my escape from work yesterday evening. Sounding strongly of Icelandic pop, Stark has a slightly unpredictable and atmospheric scene unfold throughout the 4 minute uptempo “Near Dawn”. True enough it’s not a ‘new’ track but Audioasis awakened me to this lovely number the other weekend and I just felt I had to share it with you all. The unexpected breakdown and twist at the 3 minute mark provides a nice coup de grace which ends just as quickly.

A nice experimental mix from Bellingham artist Maxwell aka Metsa on this lovely VD! I’m single this year, so I really just wanted a chillout track and this one stretches the traditional track boundaries for the genre enough to be atypical but still fit in the lovely, likable realm of “pop”. Not a lot of words heard or spread out through the few minutes it lapses and IMO its sparseness lends itself well to chillout playlist or a study-playlist track.

Some sexy house/disco music from local Doza (aka Carlos Mendoza) which makes me wanna pump up the jams. Mendoza is clearly a talented tension builder and knows at what increments to increase and release the intensity to make something danceable feel both inevitable and interesting. Sounding like a lost DFA track, this song has enough thoughtful vintage inspiration to be a prospective retro track and you know when I say that, it’s a huge compliment coming from me.
