A Wedding: Summer Solstice

From flower crowns, to home-made limoncello, and even goats, Summer weddings are turning out to be our favorite!  This past weekend, we were lucky enough to be included in an extra special wedding at the Chumash Interpretive Center in Thousand Oaks, CA. This outdoor spot is home to an Indian reservation and couldn't have been more perfect for the nuptials and reception.  

The bride donned an ivory lace gown with gold sequin detail, while her groom went non-traditional with a navy suit and floral button down. A match made in Boston!  This couple has been together for 16 years - we're serious! Needless to say, it was time for them to walk down the aisle and say their "I do's".  We are truly touched to have been a part of their very special day.

So, kick back, relax and enjoy some photos from the celebration including the ceremony back drop (made by the couple themselves), guest favors, table decor, instruments, and the up-beat bluegrass band that we could not get enough of.

All we have left to say is...who's ready for round two?

A Recent Trip

Jasmin and I started No Seasons while on a “daycation” in Palm Springs.  Laying at Ace Hotel we decided it was time to put our creative energy into a project that we both would enjoy.  For me, I had been striving to reach career goals for the last three years.  With big plans and a lot of determination, I was making things happen in LA, but every time I would get a job that I thought would be a “dream” it turned out to be exactly the opposite.  I have come to find that the fashion and entertainment industry is extremely hard and full of people (not everyone, but many) who can be difficult to work with.  This has taken me a long time to actually realize and put into perspective.  

Two weeks ago I took a trip to Guatemala to volunteer at a school for orphans and impoverished children.  Just one week was all it took for it to click, for me to realize that unless I am giving to others, I will never be fully satisfied.

Through No Seasons, my goal is to create event experiences from day one of planning to the day after clean-up. Making each moment one to cherish.  I love helping others create lasting memories (I can't speak for Jasmin but I know she feels the same way).  I want to change the lives of the people we work with and, from Guatemala, I have learned that in the act of giving you also receive so much.  Pure joy comes from kindness and you really don’t have to speak the same language as someone to be able to make a connection and create a lasting relationship. 

This is just the beginning of our journey here at No Seasons Events and Design, we are so happy and grateful for everyone who has supported us this far.

I declared the moment I got back from Guatemala that every day would be a new adventure. So here is to seeing where this path leads us and to creating freaking awesome events!!!

Lulu & Georgia Saves the Day

Oh, sales. The one thing that can turn around even the bleakest of days. Just this morning I was feeling glum, with a headache and sore throat to boot - until I saw this... 

And now everything's coming up roses Milhouse! Luckily, we'll be able to partake in this no doubt textile, lucite, and gilded Instagram-worthy affair.

Get to Know Jasmin

Like Kassey, I'll be sharing some tidbits about what inspires me, my favorite LA spots, and much more in this mini questionnaire.

Name: Jasmin Perez

LA native or transplant? Honestly who is from LA? I'm originally from Fresno, CA but moved to San Francisco a week after high school. I realized I wasn't a bay area kind of gal and made the jump to LA. 

What are some of your favorite spots in the city? Oh gosh,  there are SO many places that I love in LA, and I'm always torn between the East and West side. If I had to narrow it to five I'd say: Surfrider Beach in Malibu, Joans on Third, Just One Eye, Silverlake Reservoir, and Bottega Louie. 

What inspires your sense of style and design? Everything! I may be walking around downtown, perusing a blog, or even eating a slice of cake and be totally inspired for my next project! 

If you weren't an event planner, what would you be doing? Aside from event planning I am also a freelance writer and social media editor for mostly fashion and beauty-based sites. It's fabulous because I can use those skills with No Seasons. 

Go-to mantra or quote: Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick, and pull yourself together. - Elizabeth Taylor

What is your idea of perfect happiness? I'm going to get totally mushy and cliche on you, but waking up next to the man I love, wrapped in a cashmere robe, and sipping on a delicious cup of coffee is all I need. 

Coffee or Tea? Have you seen my Instagram? I don't think I have to answer that...

Favorite thing about Kassey? She's as weird as I am. 

What's on your DIY to-do list? So many things, I'm re-decorating my pad and have been playing with the idea of building my own industrial pipe bookcase. I also really want to make a gold heart-shaped piñata. 

One thing no one knows about you: Well, I can't tell you that... 

Do you Instagram or Tweet? Instagram all day everyday, baby. 

Any hidden talents? I can recite EVERY line from Titanic (even the old lady parts)

Get To Know Kassey

For our first post(s) we thought we'd give you a peek into who we are, what we love, and what inspires us with this mini questionnaire. 

Ready, set, go! 

Name: Kassey Rich 

LA native or transplant? I’m an Iowa native. Honestly, I kind of disliked LA the first time I visited, but found myself here two years later. I guess I couldn't resist tinseltown.  

Favorite spots in the city? I am always taking visitors to Masa of Echo Park, just something about the old movies, eclectic decor, and the pizza (can’t forget the pizza). On that note, Garage Pizza anytime on Monday ($15 for any pizza...what?) As for night life, i’m pretty low key, so anywhere that has a good whiskey drink or beer on tap I’m pretty happy with.

What inspires your sense of style and design? Traveling and people watching. My design sense is all over the place - I love vintage/thrift store finds because they're one-of-a-kind. 

If you weren't an event planner, what would you be doing? Believe it or not, I have always wanted to be a Marine Biologist. The unknown sea fascinates me and just seems so magical. Or maybe a crime scene investigator - I love a good mystery. 

Go-to mantra: Kindness is always in style. 

What is your idea of perfect happiness? Doing something I love every day. Not just at work but in my personal life as well. I enjoy traveling and learning from different cultures. Interacting with people and sharing stories is where I find the most joy.

What's on your DIY list? I have these antique mirrors that I received from a friend. The gears are turning. 

One thing no one knows about you: I keep every button I receive with clothing in an old Skippy peanut butter jar that was given to me from my great grandma with buttons she once collected. I have no idea how old some of them are, but there are a few gems in there! Maybe some day my great grand daughter will think some of mine are just as neat.
