The SOAC Subway Car in New York, April, 1974.
Developed by the US Department of Transportation as a demonstration State Of the Art Car, SOAC was built using the latest technology with an emphasis on low cost. The 2 SOAC cars tours the country’s rapid transit lines in 1974-75, visiting NYC in April 1974 on the A,D, E and N lines. In the end, nobody cared and the SOAC cars are now rotting at the Seaport Trolley museum in Kennebunkport, Maine.
