Mittens. It wasn't just what your hands fumbled around inside of 24 hours a day, it was your new name. You'd been warned what would happen if you touched your diaper too many times, but after seemingly getting away with it on several occasions, you figured it was an empty threat. That is, until the day you found out how many times was "too many." One year later and you're forgetting what it's like to feed yourself, what it's like to touch the smooth plastic surface of your diaper, you're forgetting what it's like to grip a sippy cup instead of using all your declining arm strength to keep a bottle held between the two bulging pads you call hands, you're forgetting what it's like to pleasure yourself in any way other than your heavily monitored and once-monthly "Huggie-hump time." Most of all, you're losing all your will to fight this new way of life, or any hope that this is just a temporary punishment - aren't you, Mittens?
"Alright buddy, looks like you still haven't hit the outer layer of last night's bedtime diaper, so you should be okay without a change until lunchtime, let's get you strapped into your carseat and hit the road!"
"Umm Daddy, I think you might be forgetting something..."
"Don't worry, small-fry, I've already got two full bottles waiting for you in the car and I just washed the glovebox pacifier stash the other day, so we should be all set."
"No, Papa, you forgot something I should probably have on before we go out in public..."
