“Blue green colours flashing…”
Christopher Williams
The original talking doll, invented by Thomas Edison in 1877. Edison’s Talking Doll told nursery rhymes by means of a small phonograph which played wax records. The phonograph was placed inside the torso, and was powered by cranking the handle at the back of the doll. Despite years of development, Edison’s Talking Doll was marketed for a mere few weeks in 1890 after being released by the Edison Phonograph Toy Manufacturing Company. Only a few hundred of these dolls were ever sold, and hundreds of them were returned for various reasons including breaking, being difficult for young children to use, and for the terrifying high pitched screeching sound they made if their phonograph had been damaged— which happened quite easily. Though Edison’s Talking Doll was a complete failure at the time, because of their rarity they are so valuable now that even to buy one in poor condition could cost you tens of thousands of dollars.

Oh Lindsey.
Did you know: Stevie Nicks invented a time machine in '79, traveled into the future to 1989 to grab a copy of her album 'The Other Side of the Mirror' then hopped back in, traveled back to 1979, filmed 'Tusk' and posed for this photo to prove she's a legit time traveler? #themoreyouknow
Stevie Nicks: vocalist, lyricist, legendary rock poetess, baton twirler, stage twirler, fashion icon, cape wearer, Tusk bun trendsetter, magical dream weaver, Leif Garrett fan. Now taking requests-what legendary album would you like to see Nicks holding in 1979?
Before Stevie and Lindsey met aboard The Love Boat, Nicks guest-starred on an episode as a teenager in the mid-60's, where she played incredible renditions of Johnny Cash and Simon & Garfunkel songs to delighted passengers.

You never know when you'll need a random torpedo. It's best to come prepared when boarding The Love Boat.
Billy Joel, born May 9, 1949, first Columbia Records photo shoot, July 1973, Central Park.
Whatever the greatest thing on the internet is, it doesn’t even come close to the coolness of imagining Leif Garrett having a guest role on The Love Boat.
