Shen Yuan silenced himself for a moment.. perhaps one could call it a pregnant pause. Obviously it had nothing to do with Xiu Ya! After-all, neither Shen Jiu or Xiu Ya have a system, only him. But how could he continue to survive this conversation without revealing that their whole world is a book?

Although it’s become very real to Shen Yuan, he finds himself every now and again coming back to the depressing truth that this life he is living—this body; this man—is all written in a novel he once despised and enjoyed, fir all intents and purposes. As though his mind, once a month or so, is pulled out of the normalcy he’s established with this world and his husband to be confronted by true reality.

In fact, what even is reality anymore? How can he tell anyone who isn’t Airplane-Bro the thoughts in his head without creating some sort of Pandora’s Box situation?!

He doesn’t even realise that he was meant to speak, just staring down at his tasteless tea, fingers digging into his knees to give him some sort of indication that he’s real—by feeling, at least.

Not to mention his poor husband being met by the original goods after almost two decades of himself..

Shen Yuan had lived as Shen Qingqiu for far too long at this point. Revulsion pulsed through him as he thought of how Shen Yuan had simply made himself comfortable and distorted the life Shen Jiu had once built until it was completely unrecognizable.

Although he had ‘died’ to become Shen Qingqiu, Xiu Ya’s deduction caught his attention. To not fully be conscious could either mean half-dead, dead, or just the passing out stage of it. If his body was found just in time—since his sister was staying over because of her own personal issues—then is it possible..

Maybe his body in his original world isn’t dead. Maybe he’s just lying in a hospital bed, on life support. He is the third son of a rich family, and not to mention his academic abilities if he had continued school. Maybe, just maybe, it could be a satisfying new life for Shen Jiu.

It’s not like he has much of a high ground—a body for a body.

Shen Jiu looked pale and sick at the muttering. He shook his head. "It seems that is...not the goal with Xiu Ya." He drank more tea to hide behind, grateful that he at least could enjoy it.

Shen Yuan silenced himself for a moment.. perhaps one could call it a pregnant pause. Obviously it had nothing to do with Xiu Ya! After-all, neither Shen Jiu or Xiu Ya have a system, only him. But how could he continue to survive this conversation without revealing that their whole world is a book?

Although it’s become very real to Shen Yuan, he finds himself every now and again coming back to the depressing truth that this life he is living—this body; this man—is all written in a novel he once despised and enjoyed, fir all intents and purposes. As though his mind, once a month or so, is pulled out of the normalcy he’s established with this world and his husband to be confronted by true reality.

In fact, what even is reality anymore? How can he tell anyone who isn’t Airplane-Bro the thoughts in his head without creating some sort of Pandora’s Box situation?!

He doesn’t even realise that he was meant to speak, just staring down at his tasteless tea, fingers digging into his knees to give him some sort of indication that he’s real—by feeling, at least.

The System has always worked in favor of The Protagonist, but perhaps it can also work in favor of two? If Shen Jiu were to return to the body he’s currently inhabiting, the world would go sideways. Not to mention his poor husband being met by the original goods after almost two decades of himself..

The system could had set him up as an NPC commoner, a different cultivator, or even a disciple. Yet instead, it made him Shen Qingqiu—the Peak Lord who, in the timeline he was abruptly dropped into, had a 50/50 chance of dying, and he was put into a variation of the story where he did. But Shen Jiu remained, all this time.. what was the point of that?

A veined popped above his brow from Xiu Ya’s own comment. He almost wanted to scream “No Shit” but that would make things more tense than it already is. .. as a matter of fact..

“Xiu Ya, why *are* you here? I can understand Shen Qingqiu being here, but you’re the odd one in this equation.”
