“Of course I do, babe.” He answered, kissing her eyebrow. “But you know… A giant wolf can’t be soft.” Sam chuckled, loving how happy his Lamb chop was. He listened to her sweet words. Those that she had never stopped telling him. She had believed in him. Always. “I’d do anything for you, Mercedes.” Sam whispered, kissing her forehead as she laid on his chest. “Anything.” The boy smiled, his heart pumping hard in his chest, wanting to be even closer to her. “Back home.” He repeated her words, letting her kiss him as his eyes closed, feeling each one of them. Home… He was her home, as she was his. “I know.” He laughed gently, leaving a kiss on that cute nose. Doing as she had done and showering her face and neck with new ones, finally finding her lips and joined them in a slow yet passionate one. His hands had left her waist and now, he was holding her face tenderly, his thumbs caressing her ears whilst his lips loved hers. God, she smelled so great…  It was as if she was… Wet! Sam stopped the kiss, letting them breath, while he rested his forehead on hers. “Baby…” Sam whispered longingly, the need of her making him go crazy.

“Warm, yes. But soft, babe?” Sam complained, yet smiled. “There is… Some peach cobbler.” He told her while eating  some more of his meatloaf. The boy had already finished the pasta and was devoring the meat like he was famished. Darn, she truly was right. The meal was good. Really good.

He listened to her, worrying about him even a year later and he couldn’t help but smile once more. “Don’t be....” He whispered into the kiss. “Don’t be sorry.” He looked into those eyes he had met a year ago and his hands caressed her ears as he left another soft kiss on her lips. She was giggling now, and that was music to his ears.  “It was torture... Wanting to hear your voice and pushing you away at the same time to protect you… I promised I wouldn’t let you get close enough to hurt you, yet I couldn’t stay away.” He offered his hand, taking them to the center of the room. “It was those pretty eyes… your cute nose.” He whispered as they swayed to a silent music. His hands resting on her waist.

“Do you think so?” He asked, smiling from ear to ear. His woman really loved his food. She was even complimenting it. “I love you too, Mercedes. I’m so happy you do like all this, babe.” He smiled at the noises she did while accepting the food he had offered to her. “Good and cheesy. Yeah.” He agreed, taking her hand and caressing it a bit thinking about what she had just asked him. His mind soon travelling to that day as a new smile formed on his lips. A whole year had happened yet he remembered it. Her concern about the new guy. Her worry about another person. She might not have realized it at that moment, but no… He wasn’t okay. “I wasn’t.” He replied, his smile growing fond. “I was lost. I remember thinking I had lost myself in your lovely eyes and that I would never be able to find the way out.”

Sam couldn’t stop staring at her. It was like a dream his Lamb chop liked his food. He hadn’t felt sure while following the recipes but everything had ended up turning up well. “Mmmmm, huh? I see.” He smiled, taking a sit in front of her and serving some pasta for him too. “I guess I can cook too.” He admited, glad that he hadn’t burned away the kitchen in the proccess. “Not like you though, but I try.” He grabbed the fork and took a generous bite from his plate. “Mmmwoww…” He tried to speak at the same time. “You’re right. This is ..oood.” Sam chuckled, eating some more. Truth was, he was hungry. More like starving, actually. Now that he thought about it, he hadn’t eaten anything that day, trying to prepare everything for their anniversary. Sam shook his head, hoping she wouldn’t find about this. Oh, she would be so mad if she knew that that had been the first bite he had in hours. He still could remember the taste of the first one he had taken after his months hidden in the forest. It had been a simple sandwich, but it had felt so good... In the woods, he had had to fight for food. For living. But there… With her, he was safe. He was finally at home. “Here… Try some of this.” He offered her a bit of his meatloaf. “Say ahh.” Sam aligned the fork in front of her mouth, waiting for her to try it.

And those lips… That red color calling for him and driving him crazy… “Yea, definitely.” He sighed, before kissing her hand and cheek and helping her sit at the table. “I’ll be yours. But first… We’re gonna try these dishes.” He started to show his woman every meal he had cooked. “You don’t have to eat them all. I made plenty in case you didn’t like some of them. I… I tried to make your favorite, but some of them were difficult. I didn’t forget the veggies though.” He chuckled, a bit nervous. Among the different dishes he had prepared, it had to be at least one that she liked, didn’t it? He thought. “Which one do you want to try first?” He asked with a hopeful smile. “The meatloaf or maybe the burgers? The pasta?”

How could I think that way?” He teased her, drying another tear away and leaving a kiss in the same spot. “Well, surely it’s not gonna be as if you had cooked.” He smiles into her kiss. “I know, babe and I appreciate that. You are right, it’s our day. Mine and yours. So don’t hesitate in asking any thing that goes through your mind, okay?” He let her leave, and turned around to watch her climbing the stairs, eyes focusing on her perfect backside. “Yes, you are!” He shouted, laughing. “Take any time you need, babe.” He could say before watching the girl disappearing from his sight. “Okay, then. Let’s go set the table.” He spoke to himself, walking toward the kitchen. After so many days trying to find the perfect and elaborated meal and failing, Sam had finally  decided to cook a bit of everything, ending up with a mess in the kitchen and dishes that consisted in a meat loaf with Italian cheese, hamburgers and mashed potatoes, pasta with tuna sauce and for the dessert, a peach cobbler. Of course, he hadn’t forgotten the veggies. Those he hated but she loved so much. “I think this is it.” He spoke aloud, taking another look at the table, checking if he had missed anything, as he lighted the last candle.

You’re my light.” He answered, looking at the way she kept observing the room. It truly was a special day. Something that only happened once in his life. In every wolf’s life. Finding his mate. Of course you can.” He answered, wondering if that was what the but meant or he had really missed something. “This is your day. You can do any thing you want to. A year. Sam Evans still couldn’t believe it. A whole year had already passed since that day. The day that an angel broke into his life to make him complete. A beautiful, kind and passionate girl that in a second had made him fall into his knees, tying them up for the eternity. A year had passed yet he could remember it. He would remember it every day of his life. They had gone through so much since that very first moment. He had escaped… pushed her away, so many times, but he kept coming back to her. The boy lighted up the last candle in the room, smiling as he watched his work. It had taken him too long since he had decided not to use his wolf speed and do it the normal way, but it had been worth it. He had been an idiot once again and she had forgiven him once more. His Lamb chop… She deserved everything. Surely, not a dinner with candles that she had paid.
