My Big Fat Italian English Greek Wedding || Artemis&Aaron
There were flowers all down the aisle which Artemis knew since her mother had been freaking out about them all day. All of the weddings in the Hawke family had been successes because there were literally flowers everywhere, or at least that’s what they believed. So for a wedding where Artemis was marrying a complete stranger, Artemis’s mother and grandmother saw to it that there were extra flowers everywhere. She’s gonna need it, her grandmother said in her thick Greek accent. Artemis turned around and saw herself in the mirror. Her eyes covered in sparkly dust, her lips a soft shade of pink, her long caramel hair pinned back in a braid with her long curls flowing down her back. And the dress, of course. It was a little much by her standards, but it was at her family’s request. She would wear a bikini down the aisle if they wanted her to. It was all lace, all big, and VERY traditional looking. Suddenly, zipping it up and standing in front of the mirror, completely ready, made it seem all too real.
Her maid of honor, her best friend since High School, walked up to her and marveled at how beautiful she looked. It made Artemis feel almost uncomfortable to be honored and worshiped like this. In fact, she couldn’t be more nervous. There was so many questions to ask. Who is this guy? Is he even ready for marriage? Does he just wanna be on the show to get famous? Granted, Artemis’s intentions weren’t EXACTLY pure, but at least she did it for the right reasons by her standards. Her palms were sweaty. She was shaking. But it was all suddenly calmed when her brother guided her to the towards the front of the aisle.
Artemis took her father’s arm, who was looking rather dashing in his tuxedo with a bittersweet expression on his face. They didn’t say anything to each other, but she knew he was going to cry at some point during this whole ordeal. She looked up and saw her soon-to-be husband standing there at the front. She couldn’t speak or form an expression. She was actually couldn’t think or say anything at all. It wasn’t like she was looking at her soul-mate or the person she was destined to be with, but he seemed like someone she could deal with and learn to like eventually. He was handsome, though, thankfully. She had seen some shows where women meet their future husbands and cry because of how awful they looked, but Artemis lucked out. “Hi…” she said quietly as she got to the end of the aisle, standing across from the man, “I’m Artemis…”

Aaron couldn’t believe what he was doing. Everyone he knew always told him that he needed to settle down--that he needed to stop moving around every time he was close to committing. No one thought he could do it, and he felt he needed to prove them wrong. The whole idea was crazy. Getting married without ever meeting your spouse? He was never one to commit, and now he was about to get married and meet his wife all in one day. Aaron fixed his tux and hair one last time before receiving a slap on the back from a friend and making his way to the end of the isle, where he would wait for his soon to be wife.
Aaron stood at the end of the isle, nervous as hell as he waited for his wife to come walking down. He had to idea what to expect. He had so many thoughts running through his mind, and boy were there a ton of flowers. He’d gotten so nervous he began counting them all before he realized he was crazy. All he could think about was how crazy it’s gonna sound when people ask how he and his wife met and they’re going to have to reply with, “Well, we met on our wedding day at the altar.”
He fixed his tux one last time before looking at the end of the hall and seeing the woman. He had to admit, she was beautiful. He could tell she was nervous too, who wouldn’t be? He didn’t even know what he was going to say once she got to him. First impressions were key, and this was his. His eyes scanned the girl as she walked down the isle. Aaron kept telling himself to be sure to say the right name; don’t mess this up as if he was Ross in an episode from the show Friends.
After what seemed like forever, the two were finally standing across from one another, hand in hand as the crown watched in awe. “I’m Aaron,” he whispered. “I know we just met and you’ve probably been told this a thousand times today, but for what it’s worth, you look beautiful.” Aaron said before the priest began speaking. When it came his turn, he spoke the two words which would make it all real. Aaron looked at Artemis and spoke, “I do.”
