I don't know why Angbang should be inherently all BDSM, power plays, harsh, cruel ship or pink fluffy unicorns, two sweet husbands who did nothing wrong, and were just the victims in that situation.

For me, Angbang can be Melkor and Mairon being devoted to each other without resorting to power plays, insults, degradation or fear between them, but still be mean, still be cruel, still be willing to crush everything that stands between them and their purposes. They can adore the other without being diminished to a babygirl - especially Melkor - who is a depressed dumb little puppy who never did a thing wrong in his life.

We can have complexity. We can have Melkor and Mairon being cruel and nice, for different kind of things. We can have them be egoistical and compassionate, like Mairon sends wolves to eat each and everyone in Finrod's company, yet could be caring and loving those wolves. We can have them be anything other than the two extremes: and i'm seing more and more people advocating for pink fluffy unicorns Angbang, which why not, to each their taste and there's no rule in fandom, but complexity is ten times more interesting in my opinion.
