Maybe one reason time seems to speed up in adult life is because when your full time job leaves you roughly 5 hours of free time a day plus two days off a week your life turns into a sort of monotony that makes the days blend together and creative pursuits move in slow motion as you can only get to them when your other commitments are done.

How the hell am I supposed to gain experience in haircolor work without having some troubleshooting involved? I have to start somewhere, don’t I? I THOUGHT my place of employment and I had an understanding that my career point of interest is in specializing in advanced color, and that they were giving me the opportunity to have hands on experience with highlight services so I could work on real people with real scenarios. I’ve had several go perfectly smoothly, and I can name 3 clients who I’m confident think quite well of me. Like, I honestly don’t think the statistics are that bad for being new. It’s only been 4 months and I’ve done less than 10.

They never told me there was a ‘redo comp allowance’, and I had no idea I exceeded this limit until I checked the bookings calendar and couldn’t interact with a future highlight appointment. It was only when I asked for admin help because I thought it was a glitch in the system that they gave me the news that they took off all my highlight capabilities. I mean, THAT’S how they break it to me? By forgetting that turning off a service of mine also involves needing to transfer any affected bookings to a different stylist?

Fucking hell, to me this feels like a devastatingly crushing regression of my career. And I’m NOT in the right headspace right now to set up a meeting with the salon manager to ‘go over how to move forward’, or learn from the technical ambassador ‘my areas for improvement’.
