               Mouth opens to protest, but closes just as quickly, temporarily stumped in her objective. She’s seen this before: ninjas, fresh from war, stunned into horrified silence, too stubborn to tell her the truth of their ordeal. Warriors too proud to admit they are suffering; soldiers too silent for their own good.

                    Her fist clenches, automatically, a memory just faint in her mind.

The young boy’s sign language was understandable, although a bit rough around the edges. It reminded him a little bit of the way Naruto signed, but with a bit more skill and a little less excitement.

[ Kiba doesn't respond to the last text, and has actually passed out in the time it took the other boy to respond to him. He wakes up the next day with a killer headache and checks his phone, seeing the text. He opens the conversation, and... ]

      ❝ Fuck! Did I seriously...??? Wait. Wait. He said...he said yes. So that's not bad. Right? That has to be right. Fuck. How does this shit even... ❞

[ He's babbling, really, and Akamaru responds to him by lifting his big white head and making a sound at him. ]

      ❝ You're right, Akamaru, I should calm down...I'll just let him text me first. ❞

[ He tilts his head to the side, narrowing his eyes a little bit. That doesn’t make sense. Aka… That means red, right? ]

❝That… “Dog” is white.❞

[ What a strange creature it is. Why is it looking at him like that and wagging that… Thing on the rear of it? Furrowing his brow, he flaps his tail in response, wondering if that’s any kind of equivalent to the abnormal greeting. ]

      ❝ Heheh, well, he's a special dog. He can turn red! That's why his name is Akamaru. Besides, I didn't name him! ❞

[ Akamaru is wagging his tail furiously, sniffing at the boy. That is, until he suddenly flaps what appears to be a tail back at him. Having been scared by the unexpected flap, he barks and jumps back, hiding behind Kiba's legs. ]

      ❝ What...what is that?? Is that-- ❞

[ Looking closely, Kiba can see that this boy...is not a boy at all, but a merman. His eyes widen and he looks behind him at Akamaru, who is peeking back around Kiba's legs now. He barks at the male once, ears pulled back. ]

      ❝ Uh...so you're...? ❞

kiba feels that he has no gender. he is agender. pronouns are not "male" or "female". there are three types of pronouns. nonbinary individuals like kiba can use any of the three and still be nonbinary.

Kiba's fingers run gently up the kunoichi's sides and he gets her shirt off, moving his mouth to her cheek and then her ear. ]

[ He only mutters it and honestly isn't sure if she heard it or not, but he trails his lips along her jaw, smiling just a little. It's good to have someone around who understands your motives in situations like this. ]

[ Kiba truly appreciates what Sakura is trying to do for him, but he wants to avoid talking to anyone about it, really. It would only make him look weak if he did. Of course, though, he doesn't say that. ]

      ❝ No, it's fine...I will be fine, I just. I need some time to let myself get over it. Thank you, though, for offering. I mean, I did just wake up and all...I'm sure it'll be fine soon enough. Don't worry about me. ❞

[ He smiles at her and shrugs a little, actually starting to feel a bit better. Akamaru leans against him, whining softly, as if to help confirm that he would make Kiba feel better. ]
