"Uh oh. Do I need to sit down? Or…. stand up?"

He looks at the ground for a moment, before facing Lilly again. His face shows a smile.

"Well, you know how I've had this crush on Sirius... right? And well... I told him. Or he kinda noticed, to be honest."

Nodding in what he thought was an assuring way (but in truth made him look like a bobbing owl) Sirius grinned. “Don’t sweat it, Moons,” he said quietly, still not wanting to wake any one this early in the morning.

The thought of the hexes he’d be on the receiving end of if he woke James before ten on a weekend didn’t bear contemplating past the resounding urge to just not risk it.

"Don’t apologize you twit, just lay here -" he held his numb arm out so Remus could be against his side and use him as a pillow without risking Sirius having to regrow a dead limb. " - and not on top of me for a few hours."

Remus was still confused, but when he was offered a place to rest on, he happily took it. Laying down again, the wolf let out a soft, content noise, snuggling against the other.

"But you are comfortable", Remus said quietly, shifting around a bit, so he could rest his head closer to Sirius'. "Besides, Wormtail is sleeping and... " Remus took a moment to check the other beds "... everyone else is off doing the nasty." There was a giggle from him now, and Remus hid his face against the other's neck. "So can stay here?"

The next time he woke, the entire right half of Sirius’ body was numb, the blood circulation cut off by Moony’s presence on his chest. Looking down, he hummed happily at the mop of dark hair that met his eyes.

"Moony?" he mumbled and reached his free arm over to shake at Remus’ arm gently, smiling. "Moony you’re going to make my arm fall off."

Remus was woken by someone shaking him. And naturally, dealing with James and Sirius for so long, it startled him. "Padfoot?", he asked, as he had rolled himself off the other, sitting upright now. "Oh... sorry."

Still sleepy he shook his head, before laying down again, making sure not to lay on the other's arm this time. "I sleep better when I'm here", he said slowly, placing a hand on Sirius' chest. "Sorry."

A low hum of approval worked its way from Sirius’ throat and a slow, lazy smile crawled over his lips. In one short burst of movement, he latched on to Remus’ shoulders and rolled until he rested half across Sirius’ chest.

The movement broke the contact between their lips, but Sirius was more concerned with using Remus as a human cuddly toy than he was with kissing him.

In his unconscious state, Sirius burrowed his head further into the pillow beneath him and tightened his grip around Remus’ shoulders. As he squeezed the teen above him, Sirius stretched his body in one, long, squeezing arch before releasing all the tension from his muscles and sagging into the mattress once more, fast asleep.

This was nice, the kissing was something Remus could do all night. But it seemed, Sirius wasn't okay with that. A soft, surprised noise left the boy, as he was pulled over and onto Sirius chest, held by strong arms. Okay, he could do that. He could stay here. It was nice, it smelled like the thing he loved. And that was always nice.

So instead of fighting against it, Remus simply reached out with one hand, lacing his fingers with Sirius', holding onto his hand. Then he closed his eyes, letting out a content breath. It wasn't long before he fell asleep like this, very happily so.

He felt warm - content and happy. Sirius didn’t afford a bird too much opportunity to sleep with him since he lived in a dorm full of boys during term and slept on James’ floor during the holidays. So the part of him the recognized that there was a living body holding him in his sleep glowed with affection at the comforting touch.

He shifted enough that he could sling a leg over one of Remus’ and fisted a hand in the duvet where it rested across the other teen’s chest.

"Thanks, mate," he said suddenly, in quite a clear voice. His eyes remained closed and his breathing even as he continued to sleep on. A long moment passed between them, Sirius lost in his dream scape and Remus doing little to disturb him, before he spoke again at the compliment. "I try really hard," he confessed. His voice remained clear and concise, though he slept on. "But sometimes I can’t find the right breakfast to go with my hair."

Of course Remus knew, that Sirius talked in his sleep. Being a light sleeper, he had heard it often enough. This time however, it took him a moment to realize, that Sirius wasn't awake. A soft chuckle left him, before he leaned down, pressing a kiss to the other man's forehead.

"Silly", he whispered, stroking through Sirius' hair. Yes, this was nice. Even though he was tired, Remus just couldn't close his eyes and not stare at the other's face. It was soft and even, more relaxed than it ever was when he was awake. And that was something nice. He leaned over Sirius again, staring for a few moments. Yeah, maybe he should try that.

Slowly he moved, until he could softly kiss the sleeping Sirius, his hand still playing with the other's hair. Hm... yes. This was nice.

Sirius was a heavy sleeper. Let’s just get that straight right off the bat. Spending time under the same roof and often in the same room as James Potter growing up made a bloke learn to get what sleep he could no matter what chaos his best friend was creating beside him.

So when a dip on his mattress followed by a warm presence pressing against his body happened some time in the middle of the night, Sirius did little more than twist beneath the blanket until he could sling an arm across the warm body gracing his bed.

His hair fluttered a little where it hung across his nose and to avoid the sensation, Sirius buried his face into the hot skin of his visitor’s neck and let out a sleepy hum of contentment.

Remus was a very light sleeper, always had been. And that meant waking up in the middle of the night when James decided to bring chaos. Or when the whole damn room sounded like an orgy, because Lilly and James where... yeah. He heard all of that mostly, and James knew.

When Sirius snuggled closer to him, Remus let out a soft noise, pulling at the other to get him even closer. This was nice. His hand was then up in soft hair, and when Sirius nudged against his neck, Remus let out a soft little chuckle. "You are so adorable", he whispered, hands playing with soft hair.

Well, he didn't really mind being here, not when almost no one else was here. Perter was a very heavy sleeper and usually didn't wake up when stuff happened. Even that one time James broke Remus bed out of fun and Remus went tumbling to the ground with a screech. Peter slept through that. So Remus was sure he wouldn't wake now, when he combed his fingers through Sirius hair, his other hand making soft patterns on his back. "And so beautiful."

Spending the night as a raging werewolf got more tiring the older he got. And then having to actually attend classes and finish this silly essay. By the time it was midnight, Remus was ready to scream in frustration and just curl up in bed. He was so tired, but his own stupid wish to do fucking well kept him awake until now. Well, he'd had to read over that essay again tomorrow and probably take out a lot of mistakes, but right now all he cared for, was that this was done, tomorrow was Saturday and he could sleep in.

With a yawn he gathered his stuff and headed up towards his bed. The essay and everything else was just carelessly put on top his other stuff, before he finally got to undress. For a moment he hesitated in this quiet room. They were all sleeping... or were they? Frank wasn't here and neither was James. Peter was sleeping peacefully just like Sirius. Well then.

There was a sleepy smile on his lips as he crawled into Sirius' bed instead of his own, curling up under covers and against the other. Yes... this was nicer than sleeping alone.

Deer Hunt

[Two inky eyebrows shoot into the tangle of dark hair that’s falling haphazardly across his eyes, their strands still mussed and at odd angles from the sleep he wasn’t actually able to get earlier.]

"Yeah?" [The words come out breathy and a bit amused.] "Feeling frisky, eh Moony?" [His voice is a teasing lilt but they can both probably feel the sudden spike of tension and anticipation Remus’ words have brought with them. Sirius removes his eyes from the map and twists it to look over Moony’s shoulder and at this face where a cheeky smile is playing at his lips. Sirius thinks that that’s one of his favourite types of smile - the kind that hides things behind it and flaunts the knowledge of that secret in little flashes at the corners of someone’s mouth. It looks coy and beautiful on a girl’s full lips. On Moony’s it’s devastatingly endearing.]

[A small huffed laugh and then Sirius is pulling Remus back, sliding his hand up tilt his chin upwards with a gentle touch and twisting is body around to bring their faces closer together.]

"I told you I wanted to try and do this properly." [His voice is low and firm.] "I think that entitles you to a kiss or two."

[As he speaks his face moves closers to Moony’s, their bodies being forced together by the angle they’re at until they’re pressed so tightly together that Sirius thinks he can feel Moony’s heartbeat through his back. He leaves his mouth hovering dangerously close to Moony’s and waits, his breath ghosting through his nose and over the mouth a scant few centimetres from his own as he waits for a reaction to their proximity.]

-He doesn't really know what to do, because the was Sirius is talking just makes him so fuzzy in his head. It's been there for so long, the fact that Remus' can't seem to get enough of watching Sirius laugh, to watch him study, to listen to his stories. But this is a whole new level of things, since Sirius is tilting his head up now and looking at him like that.-

"I..."

-What? He doesn't know what to say and Sirius moves closer but doesn't actually move close enough. Is he teasing again, deliberately messing with Remus head? No... no he doesn't think that's what is happening. It's more that Sirius wants him to act and do things.-

"Idiot."

-It's just a mumbled word before Remus actually moves in and kisses Sirius, closing his eyes and letting out a soft hum. His hand moves up and into Sirius' hair, puling at it slightly to get him closer, even though that was hardly necessary -judging by the fact of how close they now were.-

"Idiot."

-He says it again when he pulls back again, but his voice shows that he wants to say something different, something he can't admit to himself and much less to Sirius.-

[He’s about two seconds from rolling his eyes and jabbing Moony hard in the ribs with his wand until he stops moping so much.]

"Come on, Moony, lighten up. You’re being so…" [he flaps his free hand in a bid to wave the words he needs out of the air.] "I dunno, not you."

[The thought knocks a lot of the playful demeanour out of him and sobers him to the knowledge of exactly how much his friend has invested in this. The thought sends a familiar wave of panic through his chest. It’s like he’s joined a race half way through and he’s having to work double hard to catch up to the others. Only it isn’t a race, and it isn’t about winning. It’s Moony and his feelings and Sirius has only just found about them and is floundering to catch up to everything that he’s learning. He draws in a slow breath and smiles again, more gently this time. Leaning forwards, he lowers the hand grasping Remus’ and presses it against Moony’s abdomen in a tight sort of hug.]

"Stop worrying so much. I’m going to do the best I can to do right by you. And I’m not going to hurt you. Not on purpose. This isn’t a joke to me, Moony. I’m just… I’m still trying to catch up. Be patient and try not to think about this like it’s a dungbomb waiting to blow up in your face, eh?"

[He readjusts the map where it’s slid down in Remus’ lap and pulls it back up to the top of his knees for inspection. Not much of a change outside of Slytherin and Hufflepuff having sentries outside their entrances now. He sighs lightly.]

"We may have to wait a bit to get back, but they will. They’ll see and I cannot wait to get a load of the look on their faces. Merlin, can you imagine Longbottom’s face?"

-When he hears Padfood's voice behind him that tries to sooth him and shortly after he his pulled more against his friend, Remus lets out a slow breath. Yes, he was worrying too much. Yes, this was hard for him. But he was glad Sirius got it, at least a bit. At least to an extend where Remus was being calmed down by him. And that was good.-

"Alright.... but I'd like to ... you know... kiss you again. Don't know if I'm allowed to, though."

-Now he smiling again, when he realizes Wormtail isn't the only one possibly wondering where they were.-

"Probably the same face you made when you walked in on Frank and Alice."

-Remus chuckles at that, remembering only too well, why the two of them only met somewhere secret anymore. So did Lily and James for that matter. All these couples and Remus has seen more sex than he cares to.-

"Maybe with a little more sound though, you where awfully quiet when you came face to face with his bare arse."

Deer Hunt

[He’s still examining their hands when something in the way Moony is talking catching his attention. He grins.]

"Aw, what’s the matter, Moony, am I getting you all flustered?" [He bats his eyelashes prettily, craning his neck to try and catch Remus’ eye so he can grin at him some more. The next sentence catches him off guard and he snorts loudly, slipping his fingers to the side to glide in between Moony’s and claps his hand.]

"Right, you go ahead and worry about that, mate. Because we both know that I’m all about doing things that I don’t want to to make other people happy."

[His words are laced with so much sarcasm he’s surprised the walls of Hogwarts don’t come to life and offer him an award for his efforts in the furthering of England’s native tongue.]

-Great, now he's blushing even more. Because he still thinks that that's exactly what Sirius is doing, he just can't help himself. He doesn't want to believe it's real, it feels too good. And when it blows in his face... yeah he wants to be prepared for that. Not get his world split in two because he was stupid enough to believe someone could actually love him.-

"I'm sorry." -he says quietly, looking down again.-

-Well yeah, he's doing his best here but he doubts Sirius understands, doesn't think his best friend knows just how much this is worrying and making him him lose sleep.-

"I'd actually like that... you know? Having them all see...."

-He gets quiet and still looks down, swallowing hard. Yeah... yeah. He'd like that a lot. People would look at him funny but it's not like they don't do that now.-

Deer Hunt

"Story of Wormtail’s life, really, isn’t it? He goes to sleep, is passed out like he’s spent the night drinking, then wakes up with his bed on fire, a house elf stuck to the ceiling and me dodging curses while Prongs has a hissy fit. Prongs, or you." [he smiles indulgently and grabs Moony’s hand, bringing it up to press palm to palm with the one he’s holding in front of his face.]

"This time I reckon he should wake up with you in my bed covered in hickeys and the curtains drawn back. He’s have a fucking fit."

-Oh, he's blushing again. He can't say he doesn't want what Sirius just said. And yes, maybe he isn't a virgin anymore and maybe he has done this before, even though no one knows about that.-

"Ah.... alright...."

-He doesn't know what to say, mostly because... what could he say? 'Yes let's do this, fuck me?' No... no he wouldn't say that, he came off as being too desperate anyway.-

"But you know... you don't have to if you don't want to..."

-Yeah great, he feels like he's left his brains somewhere at home, because he clearly isn't thinking straight. He closes his eyes again and lowers his head, as if to try and not make Sirius notice the blush on his cheeks and how awkward he was being. Like that would work.-

[His face is solemn as he nods.]

"I make terrible choices. I know."

[The solemnity breaks with a loud laugh and his head rocks backwards, the arm that refuses to let go of Remus dragging him back so that his body shakes with Sirius’ laughs.]

"But his face. Merlin, Moony, I wish you could have seen it. His ear was already the size of my hand by the time he noticed.”

[He holds his hand up in front of Remus’ face to give him a visual reference, cackling the entire time.]

"It’ll be worth braving Evans just for that."

-When Sirius starts laughing, Remus does too, just because that laugh is so full of joy and infecting, he's got no other choice. Even though he doesn't find the idea as funny, he likes it when Sirius laughs.-

"Well, I don't know if I'd have found it as funny."

-He chuckles as Sirius shows him his hand. Oh, that man is so excitable and it's always perfect to see him laughing like that. The smile on Remus' face is so content and showing just how much he loves this, that it's hard for him not to.-

"Ah... I don't know about that, Padfoot."

-This is honestly perfect to him and he doesn't know really know what to do. Besides smile and try to get his heart not to jump whenever Sirius laughs.-

"Poor Wormtail. Waking up tomorrow and having no idea what's going on. Why Prongs is pissed and why he wants to punch you."

[It feels warm and solid and real and Sirius is quite happy to sit like this with Moony and just adjust to this shift in their relationship until it feels more real With the hand that isn’t grasping Remus’ he digs out the map and shakes it open on top of Moony’s lap, chin tilting down to look at it over his shoulder. He wasn’t wrong about Filch’s plan - there are dots labelled Mrs. Norris and Argus Filch pacing the corridor the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw entrances are located in. In the dungeons at the Hufflepuff and Slytherin house entrances there is nothing but blank space but en route to the locations are dots labelled The Bloody Baron and Peeves. He points this out to Moony with a self-satisfied smirk.]

"See? Filch is losing his touch - too predictable."

[The kiss startles him slightly, and he isn’t sure it’s in a good way. When it’s him treating Moony like an amorous interest, it’s in his control - able to be dictated under his rules. He can use the charms developed over years of flings and keep the situation at arm’s length. When it’s Moony initiating something with him, it feels more genuine and sweet. More real. Something in his chest squirms in guilt. He’s not an invested in this as Remus is. And he knows that. Maybe he could be, who knows, but right now it feels like he’s responsible for Moony’s happiness and the thought of messing that up scares him. He feels the weight of the burden settle over his shoulders and goes stiff for a moment, his gaze distant and his body rigid. But then Remus is talking again and it’s like nothing’s changed and it does feel nice to hold a body against him so he tucks his hand more firmly around Moony’s waist and flips the page with a ‘hmm’ing sound.]

"There." [He points to three dots labelled Minerva McGonagall, James Potter and Lily Evans are tucked into an office on the first floor. He winces in sympathy.] "Aw, man, Prongs is going to kill me for this.”

-Remus doesn't realize what's going on in Sirius and that's good. Because if he did, he'd be out of here in no time. Now he stays and he's content, because he actually feels safe with Sirius, likes the way it feels when he is tugged close against the other-

"Ah.... yeah, he's never gonna let you live that down. And you know, Lilly is gonna hit me for that. Shame on you and your bad ideas."

-It's very evident how content Remus is, the way the talks so carefree now, how he smiles and how he just likes being here.-

"I'm the one that is friends with her, not you. And yeah, she's scary sometimes."

[The question catches him off guard and he barks out a surprised laugh.]

"What? You don’t like my fan club? But they’re so nice.”

[He watches Moony’s face carefully, the grin left over from his laugh stretching and growing as he notices the soft, painful cracks in his exterior start to mend up and become stable again. The hug - initiated by Remus this time - takes him off guard for a moment, his brain struggling to catch up with the motion even as his arms reach up to wrap around his friend for a second time. It doesn’t really feel any different than their other hugs - more intimate, maybe - longer, certainly - but the body itself and the warm affection that comes with holding it is the same as it’s been for years. The only real difference is now Sirius is allowing his hands to roam, to skate up Remus’ back and cup his neck, to toy with the bottom of his hair and rest his chin on Moony’s shoulder without wondering if he’d think it was queer. Because really, at this point, that’s sort of what he’s aiming for.]

"All right, well, if I’m going to try this, we’re going to do it properly, so -"

[He pulls back from the embrace just enough to turn his head and press a kiss to Remus’ temple. The scent of his hair and the feel of his skin is familiar and comforting and with every touch they initiate he feels his perception shift slightly away from platonic, loving friendship and towards something altogether new. He pulls back entirely from the hug and grabs Moony’s hand, enjoying the feel of his narrow, finely boned fingers linking with his own, before tugging him over to the wall they’d been propped against some ten minutes before - before the world had shifted around them and started reforming into something both unrecognisable and hauntingly familiar.]

"I don’t reckon ol’ Filchy’s going to be heading to bed any time soon what with knowing there are two students out of bed. I figure he’ll post Mrs. Norris and a few ghosts in corridors around the dorms thinking we’re headed back to bed. So we’ve got to outsmart the old Squib and stay here."

[He taps his head knowingly and turns, pressing his back against the wall and pulling Remus with him as he slides down it. Remus is still in front of him, so Sirius spreads his legs as they hit the floor and wraps his arms around Moony’s middle, pulling his back to Sirius’ chest.]

"Might as well get comfortable." [The words are said next to Remus’ ear where Sirius has propped his chin on Moony’s right shoulder.]

-It really isn't something he can react to in this moment so he just lets it happen. Lets Sirius play with his hair and kiss his temple. Not that he doesn't like it - he loves it - but more... he just want to feel it without having to do anything. And it feels nice.-

"Guess you're right."

-When he gets pulled at he just follows, knows that whatever happens he's okay with. And when Sirius sinks to the ground he does too, leaning back against the other and closing his eyes, still holding his hand.-

"This is very comfortable" -He then murmurs, turning his head a bit so he can press a kiss to Sirius temple in return, smiling as he does so. Yes.. things could turn out to be quite alright. And right know he doesn't even care what James or Peter have to say about this. Not that they have to know at this moment. It could come later.-

-Remus lets out a pleased hum and turns his head back again, leaning against the larger and more muscular body behind him with a content smile.-

"What do you think Filch did with Prongs and Lilly? Being the golden pair and all... I would have liked to hear that talk."

"Yeah, yeah. Only it’s usually not tears I’m using it to clean up."

[He waggles his eyebrows in a suggestive motion. He watches Moony mop up his face with a studious eye, offering a smile when the only evidence of the earlier tears is the red rimming around Remus’ eyes that make them shine wetly through his spiky eyelashes. He looks so fragile like this, and it’s not the first time Sirius has thought so. The body that housed Remus’ lycanthropy was small looking, pale and strained from too many full moons fighting with itself in the dead of night. But Sirius knew that inside waited a different story. Where his body was frail looking his spirit blazed bright and fierce - where his disease made him wild and unstable and dangerous, his mind was kind and solid and controlled. Except right now he looked breakable, both inside and out, and it was because of Sirius, really, wasn’t it?]

"Moony, I’m sorry."

[The words are out before he can stop himself, and then they keep coming, unrestrained and honest.]

"I’m sorry because I’ve never thought of this -" [He gesture between the two of them.] "happening and it’s weird, but nice, and I don’t want to fuck up our friendship because it’s an amazing friendship and then I look at you, I don’t know mate, I want to try.”

[A shrug.]

-He stays close even when Sirius starts talking again and the first thing he hears is an apology. That could be bad for him but Remus keeps it together, wants to hear what his friend has to say. And he's glad he does. Because somehow, even this small show of affection and the way Sirius says it, makes Remus' heart skip a beat. He was lost, wasn't he?-

"So it can be my job to kindly make those giggling, blushing girls leave?"

-It's a good sign for him that he's capable of making a joke again. Sirius is so much more to him than just his friend. Sometimes it seems that when he is about to lose it, all it takes is a word from Sirius and everything is alright for now.-

"I think I actually like that idea."

-Now he's sure that he should move closer and hug Sirius again, which he promptly does. He's smiling but hiding that against Sirius shoulder, still holding the other's hand.-

"As long as you stay in my life, I am alright."
