I wrote this when I was in need of comfort (as well as two others 👀) so here you go-
"Mezou, come here for a minute."
Shouji looked up from his homework, slightly confused. Tokoyami was on his bed, putting his book down and beckoning him closer. Shouji shut his copy and climbed into the bed, settling next to Tokoyami. "What is it, Kage?" Shouji asked gently, and Tokoyami didn't answer at first, simply staring at Shouji. He fidgeted with the mask around his neck, wondering if that was the issue. Tokoyami noticed, of course he would. "It's not that, love, it's the opposite, actually." Shouji's face went red, and he stumbled over his words, flustered.
Tokoyami took his time in moving Shouji so he was laying on top of Tokoyami, draped over him like a blanket. Dark Shadow appeared, pulling the covers over them and settling on top of Shouji, trapping him successfully. He missed Tokoyami's nod towards his quirk. "Why-?" Shouji asked, craning his neck to look up at his boyfriend's slightly amused expression.
"You looked like you could use a break. So we're taking one." Tokoyami stated, hugging his boyfriend to his chest and getting comfortable. Shouji blinked and knew he was burning red, and hugged back, relaxing easily into the hug. Tokoyami picked his book back up and continued reading. After a while, Shouji looked up at Tokoyami. His mouth opened and closed for a minute, trying to form the right words to say what he wanted.
Shouji wished he could speak as well as Tokoyami could, he wished he had the ability to just say the right thing. Shouji wasn't good at that, he was good with actions, with jumping into fights he didn't want to fight for the sake of others, not confessing his love. He was infinitely jealous of how easy Tokoyami made speaking look. After more consideration, Shouji settled against Tokoyami again.
"Thank you." Was all he said. He knew it was enough.
Those two words sent Tokoyami over the moon with a joy he wasn't used to. While he as good with words, actions like this were out of his field of expertise. At times where Shouji simply was able to move to help, Tokoyami often found himself at a loss as to what to do. Fighting was easy, comfort was not. He didn't know how Shouji knew exactly when to hug or to simply pat them and move on. It was like a sixth sense Tokoyami wished he had.
"Anything for you, love." Tokoyami said, running a hand through Shouji's hair, freshly cleaned after today's training exercise. They lay there for a while longer, Shouji drifting off trying to keep up with Tokoyami's reading pace, a smile finding its way onto Tokoyami's face when he noticed. He put his book down and devoted his attention to cuddling, nodding off a while later.
And there they stayed, happy and warm. Safe from whatever lurked in their future.
God I love these two- they just wORK-
