And this space is meant to be a repository for anything I want to remember, or things which deeply entrenched in my mind, beg me to be remembered: thoughts of writers I read in books, certain poems, lyrics of songs, emails, lines on city walls penned by anonymous writers, words stolen from friends/someone, that then I appropriated, mixed them with mine, and utter them back to the world. I guess I have always been fascinated by how our minds are actually working, or how the products of our minds are interacting with each other. Often times, they do not stand on the same line of thinking at all. But in their own ways, I know they talk to each other. I hope I am building a safe house for them. While writing this, I feel like following the tradition of those who keep their messages in bottles, and released them into the sea. I store all my precious texts, make them visible, allow them to travel, in hopes that someone out there find them, and start thinking of reasons to open a dialogue. Dan ini adalah ruang penyimpanan bagi apapun yang saya ingin ingat, atau apapun yang terekat kuat dalam pikiran, memohon pada saya untuk diingat: pikiran para penulis di buku-buku yang saya baca, puisi-puisi tertentu, lirik-lirik lagu, kata-kata yang saya curi dari teman/seseorang, lalu saya gunakan lagi, digabungkan dengan kata-kata saya, dan saya hembuskan lagi ke dunia. Saya pikir, saya selalu terpesona dengan bagaimana para buah pikiran ini berkomunikasi. Mereka tidak selalu berada di garis pemikiran yang sama. Tetapi saya tahu, bahwa dengan caranya sendiri, mereka saling bercakap-cakap. Saya harap saya membangun rumah yang aman bagi mereka. Ketika menuliskan ini, saya merasa seperti sedang meneruskan tradisi para penyimpan pesan dalam botol, dan lalu melepaskannya ke laut. Saya menyimpan pesan-pesan berharga milik saya, membuatnya terlihat jelas, membuatnya berjalan-jalan, dan berharap seseorang di luar sana menemukannya, lalu memikirkan alasan untuk membuka dialog. -Nuraini Juliastuti
