Honestly, I like it when people make SuperBat more toxic because I think it just works better and feels more realistic than just making them loveydovey from the beginning. Bruce has a habit of pissing people off, no matter how much he tries, and even though I think Clark is super kind and manages to keep his anger under control, Bruce just has that effect on people. I think a part of their toxicity is that they have different ways of showing their love and how they want to help the people they love, and the way they do it clashes heavily. Bruce shows his love by little actions to keep them safe; he struggles with verbalizing his love or making it physical. The only way that he tries to show his love is by assisting the person, whether it is a lover, his kids, or just friends that he keeps around. But he also needs to have the other person be super clear with how they feel about him at all times (without physical touch), for every second, which would be overwhelming for anyone. Clark, on the other hand, likes physical touch and uses it the most to show his love. Of course, he is very good at verbalizing what he feels, but sometimes he just wants to hold Bruce without having to say anything. And compared to Bruce, he is MUCH more secure in himself. Not really needing all the confirmation that Bruce needs. Honestly, I think that it would make their whole relationship a bit... loveless, lacking not just general communication that is needed in relationships, but also the physical aspect.

I also think that their lives as Batman and Superman bleed into their relationship dynamic. Superman can't get hurt unless under specific circumstances that can be pretty rare, but Batman always gets hurt; no matter the enemy, he comes home with bruises. Superman is somewhat overprotective of the people he cares about, and that would annoy Batman to no end. It's a combination of Batman hating to be taken care of, making him feel like a child, and him not thinking that what his happening to his body is that horrid. It would probably start so many arguments, lmao.

frankenstein (2025) is a movie about the cycle of violence and the inevitability of violence and about the miracle of being kind. it is a beautiful and touching adaptation that takes a unique view of some of the story’s focal points while staying true to the novel’s themes. it is also a movie that aims to remind us that the original creature textually had long flowing locks, for which I think we should all be thanking del toro specifically
