“But what would be the fun in doing that?” Yuffie smirked when the chic mentioned calling the rightful owners.

Yuffie couldn’t help but snort when she noticed the chic actually straightened her posture as a response to her disrespect for the authorities. The chic was so righteous, it was almost adorable. Yuffie was not taken back at all by the chic’s snappy tone.

“I wasn’t. I was simply telling you the truth.” Yuffie smirked playfully. “If you want people to pay attention to what you have to say, chic, you should stop being so snobby. Are you always such a goody two shoes?”

“Haha, very funny, we all had a good chuckle”, Judy said with a frown.

“I’m being the opposite of snobby when I care about the badly paid cleaners who will have to tidy up your mess!”, she retorted to Yuffie’s accusation. She was now really getting a bit ruffled, and that was rare for her. “The one who’s snobby might be you, thinking you can do what you want without repercussions, disregarding what trouble it causes other innocent people!”

“oh, cool! it’s very catchy. i can see why you like her.”

it’s not the type of music namine really prefers (she’s not much of a music fan in general, anyways) but it’s fun, and she can appreciate that. plus, judy said it was her favorite, which influenced namine to try and like it a little more. just enough to maybe dance a little more to it.

“that’s okay,” she replied softy. “you just… you’re having fun. while you dance. how do you do that?”

considering namine has always been a little sensitive to how other’s think of her, she has trouble just letting loose and doing whatever she wanted, without fearing what other’s think of her. although the fear was slowly melting away now, she still felt a little awkward in her dancing. 

namine nodded, and started jumping with judy, giggling a bit as they found the beat of the music. it was fun. a little silly, but very fun. she got a little adventurous and swung their arms a bit, still holding her hands. 

Judy tilted her head at Namine’s question, but didn’t stop shaking to the music. “How do I do that?”, she repeated. “Umm! Honestly, I don’t know! I just dance, and then the fun comes all by itself!” Actually, she was having a blast. If that was what college parties were like, she might actually get to like it!

Namine started to jump as well, and Judy’s smile grew wider. When Namine started to giggle, Judy jumped higher. For a person with such small legs, Judy surely could jump high. “Are you feeling the fun yet?”, she asked loudly so the music wouldn’t drown it out.

“This machine has been stealing my hard earned quarters for the past couple months now and I’m sick of it.” Yuffie casually responded. “It’s the biggest con artist in the world and trust me that’s saying a lot- considering my pal Shady Sam back home sells golden watches that turn your wrist green.”

Yuffie snorted as the chic lectured her about vandalizing. It was rather humorous as this wasn’t the first time someone said the exact speech. She looked at the chic, with a playfully grin across her face and a snort.

“Sorry, chic, you are going to have to repeat that. I’m afraid I lost you at vandalize blah blah blah you know and something about blah blah cleaners and blah blah stuff.”

“Shady... Sam?”, Judy repeated and blinked confused, not sure if she could quite follow the girl. “And if the machine is broken, you can always tell the janitor or call the hotline.” She pointed at a little sign at the vending machine that had contact info printed on it.

Judy huffed and put her hands on her hips when the girl started to talk to her really disrespectfully. That triggered Judy to straighten, since she was used to people not taking her seriously due to her small height and ambitious dreams. “Hey!”, she said. “I was just trying to save you and the school some trouble, okay? No need to get rude about it!”

Judy might have muttered something just before he had sat down, but he hadn’t caught it. When she didn’t repeat it, he assumed he might be better off not knowing what it was she had said. It was probably some snarky rebuttal of some sort.

The pinkette raised a brow.

“Well.. That’s one way to put it.”

He glanced back at the arguing couple. The girl seemed to be close to tears.

“Do you know them or something?”

It was the only reason he could think of for Judy to be so concerned with the potential escalation of their argument. Usually, people either liked to listen in on these types of things or ignore them, unless a friend was involved.

“No…”, Judy answered his question and peeked over to the couple again, now a bit more worried since the girl seemed like she was about to start crying any minute now. “Do you?”

She shifted a bit on the bench she was sitting on. Part because Marluxia was still making her uncomfortable, now that he sat down, and part because she was fighting the urge to go over there and try to sort that fight out. She was aware that it really was none of her business, but she always was bad at keeping her nose out of stuff that didn’t concern her.

Yuffie never liked people who were goody goodies. They always seemed to ruin her fun and always caught her up to no good. So it wasn’t a surprise for Yuffie to look at the heroic chic now pulling her away from the vending machine.

“Who me?” Yuffie scoffed. “Just teaching a machine some manners.”

She couldn’t help but snort when she looked more at the chic. Yuffie had seen this chic before, noticing her works of art and making such a fuss over them. It had been a rather humorous to watch a few times.

“Got a problem, sweetheart?” She smirked.

“I don’t have a problem, but it seems like you’ve got one with that machine. Why are you ‘teaching it some manners’, then?”, Judy asked as soon as she had pulled the upset girl into a safe distance from the vending machine.

“You can’t just go around and vandalize other people’s stuff, you know. The poor cleaners have a hard time getting rid of that stuff.”

“Yeah, really,” he responded, “it’s not exactly how I planned on spending my day off, but if it’ll clear my name, I figure why not, right?” He said as he made to stand.

“Thanks,” he responded, “I’ll try and do good by it. Though, I don’t know how much good I’ll be, I don’t usually go around investigating things,” he explained as he looked at the vandalised wall, “what else have you found out so far? Other than their makeshift signature that is,” he asked, “any other leads or clues?”

“Right!”, Judy encouraged him while he got up from the bench. She waved him over to look at the mural with her.

“That’s the spirit. With that attitude, I’m sure you’ll be helpful.” She nodded. “I have already solved a case or two in high school.” Mainly, she had snooped on people breaking the rules and then told a teacher; but she had also protected other students from bullies, or helped people find stuff they lost and such. She never solved a real detective case like this, though, and she was excited.

“Well. Most of those murals appeared on campus. This is actually the first one I saw off campus, really. So the culprit is someone who frequents TTU - a student, a staff member, or a teacher I suppose. They also sprayed in the night, because a few murals were suddenly found in the morning.” 

She squinted her eyes and bent forward to look at the signature. “R...” Could be anyone, really. “We should search around each of the murals to see if we can find any clues.” She grabbed Riku’s wrist eagerly and pulled him along, starting to run. “Hurry!”, she yelled cheerfully; not because they were in a hurry, more because she was so excited about her first detective case with an assistant that she couldn’t wait to get started. “Back to campus!”

Yuffie was getting irritated by the minute. The pop machine outside on campus was refusing to work and even ate her last dollar that she had been saving. She looked at the delicious refreshing pop in the machine.

“Why won’t you let me drink you?!” She sighed out loud in frustration.

She kicked the machine, hoping it would work then. However no such luck. This wasn’t the first time this machine had screwed Yuffie over and she sure as hell wasn’t going to let it continue. She pulled out a can of spray paint from her bookbag and aimed it at the soda machine.

“Any last words, my nemesis?” She asked the machine. “None? Fine, brave it out. Feel my wrath, you damn machine!”

Then she started to spray the paint across the machine, not even paying attention to anyone around.

Judy was walking over the quad, when she overheard a black-haired young woman, apparently really angry, threatening someone. Naturally, Judy turned around to see if something was going wrong or if she could help out. She sighed relieved when she realized the woman was threatening a vending machine. Judy approached her; it wasn’t long ago that she got into a similar situation, where a vending machine had eaten the candy of one of her classmates. Back then, Judy had tried to fish it out with her hand, getting it stuck in the process so the janitor had to come over and get her out. That had been really embarassing, so this time, she would be more careful.

“Hey!”, Judy exclaimed when the woman suddenly pulled out what seemed to be a spray can and started to vandalize the vending machine. “What are you doing? Stop that!” She pulled the woman away from the machine at her shoulder.

Judy was already hopping on the spot, energetically twirling around now and then and generally having a blast with the song while Namine eased into the dancing as well. Judy smiled brightly at her when she noticed the little smile on Namine’s lips.

“I do! I love this song!”, she answered Namine’s question. She could barely contain herself from joining into the chorus, especially since a lot of people around them started to yell and sing to it as well. It was quite a popular song this year, and most people knew the simple lyrics of the chorus.

“And I think your dancing looks great!” She took Namine’s hand and raised it over Namine’s head to twirl her around once as well.

namine couldn’t help but giggle at her companion’s energy and enthusiasm for the dancing. she was lively, hopping and bopping about, and even without much of a sense of rythm it was obvious she was having fun. in a way, namine wished she could be like that. so carefree and lose, not a single worry on her mind. maybe it was a possibility.

“i could tell,” she remarked, another giggle escaping her as she kept up with her simple, closed-in dancing. “what song is it? i don’t know it.”

before she could give thanks for the compliment (although she hardly believed it to be true) she felt her hand being grabbed and lifted, and immediately she twirled underneath the other girl’s arm with another laugh. that had really brightened her spirits. in a daring move, she took hold of both of the other’s hands with bright, excited eyes as she continued to try and move to the song.

“i want to dance like you,” she admits, nearly breathless. “teach me?”

“The new one by Shakira this year! She’s one of my favorite singers, you know?”

Namine’s face lit up and Judy giggled as well. She gladly took a firm hold of Namine’s hands, shaking around to the rhythm of the beat. She leaned back a little and tried to whirl Namine around once more, maybe she would laugh again and loosen up a bit more.

“Umm!”, she answered Namine’s question. “I never learned how to dance or anything. I just do what my body tells me to do.” 

It wasn’t elegant or graceful, and not even always in the right rhythm, but it sure was fun. “Now I feel like jumping, so I just go like this”, she said and hopped a few times to the beat, tugging at Namine’s hands with each jump.

He couldn’t help the laugh that left his lips at her startled reaction.

“’Hard to ignore’ and ‘hard to resist’ are two, different things.” 

Marluxia’s grin was knowing as he took the seat next to Judy without bothering to ask if his presence was wanted or if the seat was actually taken.

“But I know how it is,” he continued. “It’s only natural to want to stick your nose in other people’s business. We’re like moths and juicy drama is the flame we’re drawn to.”

“I bet you would know”, Judy whispered more to herself with furrowed brows, her face reddening when Marluxia sat down next to her. She wanted to tell him that the place wasn’t free, but she didn’t really have a reason, so it would be a blatant lie. He went on to explain that yes, indeed, he liked to snoop as well.

“I’m not a moth!”, Judy said lamely, but urgently. “I’m more... Like someone who keeps a bucket of water close and keeps an eye on the flame... Just in case.” Why did she always begin to stammer when Marluxia was around?

It had been a while since Marluxia had last sat in the courtyard to have lunch. Eating in the cold weather just never really sounded appealing, but his electric gaze caught sight of something that made him reconsider.

A lover’s spat was breaking out in the middle of the empty courtyard. Both the boy and the girl were defensive in their postures, but the girl looked absolutely heartbroken. Marluxia thought he might have a clue as to what the argument was about, but only because he vaguely remembered sleeping with that boy a couple of weeks ago.

Mischief lifted the corners of his lips. Time to cause some trouble~

With his mind set on fueling the dramatic flames outside, the pinkette decided he’d take his lunch out in the snow, but it would appear he wasn’t the only one out there with the intention to listen in on the argument.

Judy was sitting at a table far away to be considered inconspicuous but close enough to still be able to hear the shouting match. Last he’d seen her, Marluxia managed to fluster her with his double entendre and unmistakably charming wit. He found her country values and naivety somewhat endearing and couldn’t help but continue teasing her.

She had her back to him as he stepped outside. Perfect.

“It’s not nice to eavesdrop, you know.”

Judy had a habit of snooping around in other people’s business. She didn’t mean harm with it; it wasn’t like she was looking for the next gossip to spread, or out of a love of voyeurism. It was because she was always looking for an opportunity to help out if help was needed (not necessarily wanted, though, but she hadn’t quite figured that out yet).

So when she heard a fight close by, naturally, she perked up and turned around to assess the situation. Judy had really good ears - a blessing and a curse. She was listening in so intently that she didn’t notice someone approach from behind, and she barely stifled a tiny squeak when a certain pink-haired man stepped behind her and raised his voice.

Judy quickly whipped her head around, and then looked up at the taller man. “Marluxia... Oh, it’s you.” She immediately felt a bit guarded around this particular member of the student council. “I...” She wanted to deny she had been listening in, but well. “It’s hard to ignore them when they’re fighting right next to me, okay?”, she tried to defend herself.

”It’s a name I’ve given to myself. No parent name’s their child that.” The reason why she was saying this, she wasn’t sure why she had the need to tell her all of this, she did. “Pleasure here as well.”

Claire being the new student the way she was, and if she had known the reason for being ran into, or what busied her head, then she would’ve sort of been able to relate to the instances and causes of that entire route. She’s learned to be gentle, and to be kinder and understanding by now. She was only human and she was allowed to make mistakes and it’d all be fine.”It’s okay. M head’s been sort of difficult for me trying to manage where everything is. In sorts of aspects, I see where you’re coming from.” She couldn’t find it within herself to really be angry.

“Heh. Thanks for not getting angry about it.” Judy really appreciated it. She had gotten into a lot of trouble by headbutting into other people, literally and figuratively.

“Oh! Like a nickname?”, Judy asked curiously. “Hmm... Lightning...” She tried to think. “Is it because you’re as fast as lightning?”, she tried to guess why the pink-haired girl chose that name. “And what name did your parents give you, then?”

“Yeah, it’s quiet the pleasure of meeting you, Judy. I’m Lightning.” For whatever the costs and reason, there was a secret within her smile. She’s met so few people and already she didn’t feel out of place as she usually does when it came to any sort of socialization and she herself was often stoic and cold, she seemed free and void of feeling, it’d surprise anyone that she actually the capability of doing so. But for her because she’s introverted and it was oft difficult for people who fell into that sort category as her. She hardly knows a single face and there was something changing within the atmosphere. And for once out of the few moments at a time, she felt hopeful. She hoped that in time, she’d warm up to at least a handful, if not all of the students.

“Lightning? That’s quite the unusual name. Nice to meet you, too!”, Judy said and returned her small smile with a smile of her own.

Judy had just literally run into the older student while she had been running from one lecture over to her dorm rooms, for no particular reason than to let out some energy. She had been in her thoughts and not really paying attention where she was running to, when suddenly, she had bumped into Lightning on her way. “I’m sorry for nearly knocking you down. I’m usually not that careless, I promise”, she said and chuckled sheepishly, happy that Lightning didn’t really seem too mad about it.

Lost and Found (Meiko & Judy)

Oh, right. Why didn’t she think about it in the first place. Before she knew it, the girl grabbed her wrist and practically dragged her towards the administration building.

“Hey, sis! My wrist hurts!” she complained. She didn’t mean to sound whiny, as this girl was gladly helping her with her lost phone. 

“Oops, sorry!”, Judy chuckled sheepishly and loosened her grip. She always got overly excited about stuff like this.

They entered the building, and Judy looked around until she found a sign pointing to the lost-and-found-office. “I haven’t checked out the lost-and-found office yet, it’s good to find out where it is in case I ever need it”, she explained, and they went over to the office. Judy knocked, and they were called in. Inside, there was a short, chubby older man sitting at a desk, an assortment of items lying in shelves behind him. He looked up as the two entered.

“Can I help you?”, he asked friendly.

“Well… I lost my phone.” Meiko explained to the older man, still feeling Judy’s grasp on her wrist  and feeling ashamed. She truly detested feeling dependent of anyone no matter the case… sometimes.

“I was around the campus and realized it wasn’t in my pocket”, with a sigh, she made a small pause to look at Judy for comfort and kept talking. It wasn’t like she  was the first person to ever lose her phone anyways. “It’s red. A red Huawei, actually. Has anyone returned one?”

Judy nodded encouragingly when Meiko looked at her, and sure enough, the man’s face brightened a little at Meiko’s request. 

 “Let me see... A red one... I think you might be lucky, miss!”, the man said and went over to a box on one of the shelves. He rummaged around in it and fished out a red Huawei. With a satisfied smile, he came back to the counter and showed the mobile phone to Meiko.

“Is this yours, young lady?”, he asked.

“yeah,” she quietly agreed, smiling, inwardly trying to pump herself up for a little bit of dancing. from the sound of it, judy was just as good of a dancer as she was, but namine considered that the other girl might have a little more experience with this sort of thing, maybe. the blonde girl nodded, and before she knew it she was being pulled out onto the dance floor.

now, namine did have a thing for pop, but normally her taste was more into happier, brighter sounding music, that wasn’t quite as loud. the song blasting through the speakers was a little too obnoxious for her tastes, and maybe a little too bass-heavy, but she wanted to have fun. so she attempted at finding the beat and dancing with it.

at first, it was just a little shuffling of the feet for her, as she was a little shy about dancing in front of people. what if a lot of people were watching, just waiting for her to do something stupid? the thought left her nervous, but a quick glance around the dance floor made her realize that everyone was engrossed in their own things. the only person looking at her was judy, who was nice enough to not say anything. namine tried to really feel the rythm of the song this time, and put a little more hip in her dancing.

“this is…weird,” she remarks over the music, to her companion. despite her tone of voice, a small smile is on her face. “i mean, a good weird, but…yeah. are —- are you having fun?”

Dance Macabre (Open Event Starter - Metaphysical Existence Club: Haunted House)

A smile as he looks down at the hand on his own. It was probably really sad to be left by his parents, but he had decided to be thankful for it instead. Instead of looking at the bad things, he would look at the good ones. If they were parents that would toss away their son, he had actually been thankful that he hadn’t grown up with them. He was thankful that he could meet Mana and live with him, and he wouldn’t exchange that for any other life. He was who he was now because of what he had lived through, and he was happy for that. 

He was less happy about Cross and his debt, but that was a whole different story that he didn’t even want to think about. 

“No need to be, I have a good life anyway, and I don’t remember them, so I don’t know why I wasn’t with them. Thinking about things you can’t do anything about will just tire you out.” 

“They are really a loving couple aren’t they? I thought it was really weird at first with someone getting married at University, and I think Kurogane don’t like me much because I beat him and some others at poker when we first met. But he does seem like he really loves Yuui. No one would put up with the stuff he makes him do without being in love.” If you loved someone, you would do anything for them, even put up with all the horrible things they put you through, even paying their debt for them. “Have you known the two of them for long?”

“True that”, Judy agreed. “I think so as well. And then I focus on the things I can do something about! Do you know I picked up track and field and trained really hard after you left? That’s why I’m here now despite everyone telling me I can’t ever become a cop.” Judy proudly straightened a bit (as far as it was possible beneath the blanket).

“You are really strong, do you know that, Allen?” She wasn’t just saying that to reassure Allen; she really found his view on his fate remarkable. Judy herself was a very optimistic person, so she could relate to it.

“I think Kurogane always looks like he doesn’t like anyone, not even Yuui most of the time”, Judy chuckled. “But it’s true. If I ever found a person who loved me like that, I’d consider myself lucky!”

She shrugged indecisevly when Allen asked her if she knew them for long. “I don’t really know Kurogane, but I knew Yuui for a few months now. I met him shortly after I enrolled last semester. But then he was gone during most of the summer break. We’re friends, though.”
