This is somewhat based on an encounter in a Baskin Robins I had today (I only wish it age been as gay as this, but I definitely got a smile from the cute girl and a bigger scoop) so enjoy our favourite hopeless gays at it again!
It was a hot day, and since Kate refused to remove her flannel top it just meant they had to figure out a different way to cool down. This is how she found herself in the local ice shop staring mouth wide open at the cute new girl manning the front.
Kate hadn’t been in a while but wasn’t necessarily expecting any surprises- least of all a tall, tan skinned girl with dark hair pulled off her glowing face in a bobbing little ponytail, showing off an impressive piercing collection. The girl was so busy organising or doing whatever it is you do at an ice cream shop that Kate managed to get away with staring and take her in before a polite “can I help you?” broke them from their thoughts- but not enough to let her talk coherently.
“Uuuh ice cream?” She tried, mentally face palming at her own incompetence. Gay panic really did hinder her speech, but the other girl didn’t seem to mind, even smiling a bit as she replied
“aha well you’re in the right place I guess! Um anything more specific?”
But Kate had mentally left the planet the minute she heard that musical light laugh, only realising they were staring again when the girl had been standing for maybe longer than was normal waiting for a response.
Kate panicked and mustered “uhh chocolate?” and the girl had just turned to scoop it when she yelped “wait no allergic!!” Causing the other to halt mid scoop and wide eyed, making Kates heart melt again, before looking down embarrassed.
“Hey, how about this mango sorbet? It’s my favourite, and it’s dairy free too!” The other girl smiled and Kate sighed and nodded gratefully, exhausted from her own stupidity and lack of social skills, and thankfully took the cone and paid, just glad to be able to leave whatever hot mess that whole encounter had been.
“Hey, I like your pin by the way!” The ice cream girl yelled, and Kate nearly walked straight into the door as she turned her head suddenly at an attempt to comprehend what was going on, and failing.
As Kate swung the storefront door behind her, and her mind had maybe stopped feeling like a complete tornado, plus the embarrassing blush across her cheeks began to fade, they realised they had two scoops of ice cream instead of one. They turned around quickly to look through the glass and saw the mystery girl smile knowingly, before turning back to scooping another order with a swish of her dark ponytail, and Kates mind went into flustered panic mode once again.
