In this version of our story, I stop begging for your forgiveness. And ask for it from myself instead. I realize it’s all I truly need anyways. You begin wondering why I stopped calling and you can’t remember when the begging stopped, or why it did but it did. Months later, my name arises from the dead and is brought up in conversation. You try to pretend it doesn’t bother you but it does. So I moved on- didn’t need anything from you to keep one foot in front of the other and you don’t understand how someone who loved you so much could possibly ever find a way to live in a world where she doesn’t get to love you like she wants to. There’s a difference between wanting and needing. I want to love you one way but need to love you in another and so I learn. I learn because it’s the only real shot I’ve got.

…We’re all works in progress, we’ll never be done. Would you really want to have everything figured out already? How much fun would that be? As hard as it is sometimes, try to enjoy (at least parts of) the ride. Keep going, take a deep breath, and be nice to yourself.
