It’s like chapter five in How to be Your Own Protege and I feel like this book is so good at saying things kinds of things I haven’t heard.  I mean, I’m still lonely and I look at all the other girls on RAW and all the friendships and fun and #TotalDivas and... ugh.  It’s hard.  But I have to keep reading this book and I have to keep on track.  Thank you for reminding me.  #blessed

Okay, so that was really hard and I appreciate you taking it so well, Emma.  But yeah.  I found this book and it’s so smart and says all these things about believing in yourself and how to find your place on stage without being two feet to the right of someone else and... 

It’s like if no one wants to believe in me backstage, I’m going to believe in me.

The sound of her feet hitting the mat kept her company.  The satisfying weight of her own body hitting the ground in perfect rhythm and sync had to be enough.  As other girls rolled their eyes or whispered behind fingers, Dana trained.  she practiced while they went to the mall or gathered at birthday parties.  Her dates were with the weight room, her prom nights were empty but her meets and tournaments were full.  It was lonely.   It was rough.  Some days, she would have to smile as prettier girls, more popular girls, and girls who had the social life she dreamed of took trophies in the spotlight while she clapped behind them on the stage, in the shadows.
